Elites Hate When The People Speak
by Brian GarstMuch of the animosity we’ve witnessed directed at the Tea Party over the last year has come from political and cultural elites who find regular people disturbing, if not downright disgusting. The peasants, according to elites, are prone to temper tantrums and just don’t get how things work in the sophisticated political world. That same attitude was on display this weekend following the primary defeat of Sen. Bob Bennett.
On Sunday’s Meet the Press, David Brooks described Bennett’s defeat as a “damn outrage.” Liberal E.J. Dionne went a step further and called it “a nonviolent coup” because the Utah voters dared “deny the sitting Republican senator even a chance of getting on the primary ballot.” Why, it’s almost like these voters think they’re allowed to choose their own representatives or something!
Brooks insists that Bennett is a “good senator” just “trying to get things done.” Unfortunately, what he was trying to get done was not what his electorate wanted him to get done. While he was busy supporting TARP and advocating an individual mandate for health care, the people of Utah wanted spending restraint and less intrusive government. On the most important votes regarding these issues, Bennett was too often on the wrong side for their taste.
It’s no damn outrage that voters would send a senator packing after serving three terms when he promised to serve only two. It’s no damn outrage that a Washington insider be sent on his following the mess Washington has created. The real damn outrage is the disdain with which elitists like David Brooks treat voters who don’t share their sophisticated policy preferences.

Bennett will now be retired, which should be more than comfortable given his decades of "service" pigging out at the public trough. Let him sit on the sidelines while the people of Utah elect real fiscal conservatives to represent their interests.

However, as Bennet discovered to his chagrin, there is a price for the level of hubris that makes an elected representative start believing they are elected to rule rather than serve, and as their reelection dates come and go, we must remain resolute in the effort to make them pay the piper for the tunes they have been dancing to.
Your loudest voice is that of your vote, and your neighbors, your friends, your coworkers, the guy at the convenience store where you buy coffee in the morning….tell everyonewhat their representatives are doing to them, print flyers and post them on bulletin boars, spread the word throughout their districts. Refuse to once again become the somnambulent public that these bait and switch artists took advantage of to gain their positions.

Just standing anywhere in the neighborhood of Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, and Chuck Schumer should be enough to get a conservative politician thrown out of office. All three of those Democrats were materially responsible for much of the crash by pushing CRA and preventing any rational oversight/regulation of Fannie/Freddie.

The pheasants understand all to well how politics work, now us peasants are showing the politicians how much we love the founders and the constitution and how little we care for politicians that disregard the constitution.
This anemic recovery we are experiencing still wasn't able to keep unemployment down (it grew from last year), still wasn't able to stop the real unemployment rate ("discouraged" workers increased by 457 thousand in the last year to a total of 1.2 million), and included 14% non-private (government) job growth. And we are still looking at being hammered for trillion dollar deficits (think Greece, Spain, and California) in interest rates and/or inflation as well as all the new taxes from the health care insurance takeover. Also, increased government control over private investing (for startups and hedge funds) will sabotage the biggest engine of job growth: new companies.
Politicians that follow philosophies that do not recognize that private industry-not government bureaucrats-create jobs and wealth need to be removed from power. Otherwise the entire country will become like CA–broke.
What they forget is that the ones they should be "sucking up to" is the people they represent…they do so at their own peril because now we are awake, pissed off, and watching them like hawks!! C'mon November I can't wait for the show!!
