Fast and Furious Breaking News: With Zero Hour Approaching, It’s Revealed the DOJ Suggested Gun Running
by AWR HawkinsFebruary 2nd is fast approaching for Attorney General Eric Holder, who is set to appear before the House Oversight Committee for questioning on Fast and Furious. This will put him in the hot seat in front of Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA) and other congressional members like Paul Gosar (R-AZ), who have been steady on Holder’s trail since details of Fast and Furious became public.
Holder’s last appearance before a congressional committee was on December 8, when Issa made it clear how irritated he was over the changing timeline, Holder’s perceived arrogance, and the ongoing refusal to turn over subpoenaed DOJ documents. In one of the best exchanges on Dec 8, Issa looked at Holder and asked, “Have you no shame?” That was also the hearing in which Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI), expressed his outrage over the fact that Holder’s DOJ had submitted inaccurate testimony then withdrawn it in an attempt to avoid being charged with providing false testimony.
But a lot has changed since that early December hearing. Most recently, the last minute release of subpoenaed documents which show that Holder learned about Border Agent Brian Terry’s death on the day it happened: a point Holder has heretofore denied. (Emails between Dennis Burke, former U.S. Attorney for Arizona, and Holder’s then-deputy chief of staff prove this.) Additionally, other emails in the recently released DOJ documents show that the head of DOJ’s “criminal division, Lanny Breuer, suggested letting some illicit ‘straw’ weapons buyers in the U.S. [to] transport their guns across the border into Mexico where they could be arrested.”
Then there’s Patrick J. Cunningham, Chief of the Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona, who was subpoenaed to appear for testimony on January 24, but pleaded the 5th in order to avoid being “compelled to be a witness against himself.” As a result, a determined Congressman Issa has demanded that Cunningham’s underling, Michael Morrissey, Assistant United States Attorney, “speak with Committee investigators about his role in and knowledge of Operation Fast and Furious.”
All this to say, as I watch the hearings this Thursday I hope to see the committee place Holder under oath and then ask tough, pointed questions about these and other recently revealed matters. For example, in light of the emails, Holder needs to give a clear and binding answer regarding when he found out about Terry’s death. He needs to explain how the DOJ can claim ignorance regarding “gun running” while their own man, Lanny Breuer, was pushing it as a means making arrests. He needs to explain what, if any, interaction he or other DOJ officials/affiliates had with Patrick J. Cunningham between the time Cunningham was subpoenaed and the time his attorney announced he would plead the fifth. And he needs to describe what, if any, interaction he or other DOJ officials/affiliates have had with Michael Morrissey at this time regarding the testimony Morrissey is expected to give when he speaks with investigators.
One more thing: The question on Breuer’s push for gun running could easily be tied to Holder’s April 2, 2009 speech in Mexico wherein he bragged about the implementation of “Project Gunrunner.” Perhaps Issa can ask Holder if he and Breuer worked out the details of that speech together?

This stuff makes we wonder why in the hell Holder has not been removed from office!
Granted, our system of justice provides the benefit of "innocent before proven guilty" but it is quite obvious that Holder and his department are either guilty as hell of incompetence or guilty as hell of some major crimes. And, if it's a criminal thing, the crimes keep piling up as the lies continue.
Somebody needs to wake up…Darrell Issa? Get the ball rolling. it's obvious that Obama and Holder want to drag this thing out until after the election, to minimize the sure damage that is going to take place to the campaign.
Holder is as guilty as sin – and as free as a bird. And he will remain so unfortunately because Obama will pardon him long before the trail leads to it's logical end – the Oval Office. I'll be waiting anxiously for the press to start howling about that like they did when Bush commuted Scooter Libby's trumped up conviction, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
Holder probably already has a 'get out of jail free' card, possibly printed on the back of his race card.

Hawkins, cannot thank you enough for your attention to this basket of writhing snakes that is the DOJ and its Fast and Furious Op.
The deliberate ignoring of this story by the LSM, the slow pace of discovery, and the refusal of DOJ to police itself (why would we expect otherwise) mean that we here in UnitedStatesville must pick up the slack ourselves.
For that we turn to Hawkins, along with a courageous and trusted few others in the blogosphere and on the airwaves. All I ask from Oversight now is to keep these embers aflame until the campaign begins in earnest, and then deal the knockout blow to HOlder and Obama reelection effort.
Like the movie, I hope Holder spends Groundhog Day over and over and over – for the rest of his life. In prison.

How can a government employee take the 5th and keep his job and pension? If he committed crimes on the job…and by taking the 5th he admits that, then he should be fired on the spot and have no pension…not one nickle!

Holder needs to come clean and admit his actions led to the deaths of those people. Even it it has to be beaten out of him. The more that come to light, the more I feel prison is too good for Holder. A wood chipper is starting to sound like a good idea..
The national Media should be ashamed and condemned for not covering this scandal and cover-up like they would have if this was a Republican administration.

It was just a few operatives at the lowest levels, some ATF, some US Attorneys', that embarked on this entire operation all on their own.
That can only mean that a handful of underlings can defeat all the checks and balances and the entire leadership structure of the whole Cabinet. It would have to mean that the entire DOHS reorganization was a complete and utter failure and must be undone this instant. It can only mean that low level employees hold more authority and more accountability than the top dogs. It would have to mean that just a few can sidestep the entire bureaucracy of the Executive branch alphabet soup.
SO how did these few force the FBI to issue positive NICS checks then? How did they coordinate ICE, FBI, DOS, Border Patrol, DOJ, ATF and so many other executive branch services to see everything from sales to delivery to over the border progress? Answer – NOT POSSIBLE.
The coordination required, which may have even involved terfing by the feds over local LEO, commands that this was a top down operation that took direct orders from the highest of high.
Watching Issa on Fox right now is one thing. We shall see if he plays the game on Thursday, or if he is finally tired enough of being made a fool of that he drops thunderous bombs.

He was accused of firing some Federal prosecutors, 8, I believe.I think Clinton fired over a hundred,not a peep.
The media reported it as a scandal.

We could only hope the State of Arizona files murder charges against Holder and company. Obama's pardon wouldn't help with that.

I agree, "We the People" need to start sending letters/email/text/twitter to Issa recommending that he arrest, if not suspension of Holder as AG and then suggest questions and answers to the trials coming up, because we know this must be prosecuted…and that is how "WE" get the ball rolling start inundating Issa, demanding Justice on the obby AG and reformation of AG in general.
