Fast and Furious Breaking News: Rep. Issa Now Calls Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Morrissey to the Stand
by AWR HawkinsJust received an email from Congressman Darrell Issa’s office, which indicates that the House Oversight Committee “demands“ that Assistant United States Attorney Michael Morrissey “speak with Committee investigators about his role in and knowledge of Operation Fast and Furious.”
As stated in the email:
[Morrissey’s] supervisor, Patrick Cunningham, has stated he will exercise his Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer any questions pertaining to Operation Fast and Furious – such an assertion is extremely rare and suggests possible criminal culpability on the part of a high ranking Justice Department official. Morrissey, who reported directly to Cunningham’s and was intimately involved with Operation Fast and Furious.
In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, Issa wrote:
Since August, the Department has identified Patrick Cunningham as the best person in the U.S. Attorney’s Office to provide information about Fast and Furious to the Committee. The Department has refused to make Michael Morrissey and Emory Hurley, both Assistant United States Attorneys supervised by Mr. Cunningham, available to speak with the Committee, citing a policy of not making “line attorneys” available for congressional scrutiny. Mr. Morrissey, however, was Mr. Hurley’s direct supervisor, and an integral part of Fast and Furious. Importantly, both Morrissey and Hurley are unique in their possession of key factual knowledge about Fast and Furious not readily available from any other source.
For anyone not familiar with Hurley, he was a member of the three-person shuffle Holder tried to pull to get the dogs off the scent back in August 2011. (That’s when Acting ATF Director Kenneth Melson was re-assigned, U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke retired, and Emory Hurley was moved from “the criminal division in the U.S. attorney’s office in Phoenix” to the civil division.
At the time, it appeared Holder thought these three fall guys would reduce the investigative momentum Issa had theretofore accumulated, but it didn’t work.
The bottom line, according to Issa’s latest letter: The investigation moves forward to the next attorney (Morrissey), but with the caveat that Cunningham is still on their radar screens, having acted guilty by refusing to testify. By the way, Issa also “reiterated that the Justice Department still has not complied with the subpoenas issued to date, including subpoenaed documents from Cunningham, Morrissey and Hurley.”
Is anyone really ever going to be prosecuted for this heinous operation?

Look for Holder to make a Geitner like announcement, saying he won't be back for a second term.
Holder lies. Cunningham takes the 5th. Personnel are scattered and reassigned. There must be something for them to hide that is worse than what we already know. Otherwise this should have been over and done with a long time ago.

When is Issa going to enlist the Capital Police and the FBI, to FORCIBLY enforce the subpoenas?? I want to see the full SWAT "Black Ninja" fully armed in force treatment!! I want to see the doors broken down and boxes of evidence being removed for investigation. Treat them like the CRIMINALS that they ARE!!!

Obama will pardon Holder et al.
The Silent Speaker has to open his mouth. John Boehner is enabling the Obama Administration to continue to farce. Congress holds the ultimate check over the Executive Branch – the MONEY. Government itself is instituted among men to SECURE the blessings of Liberty. When government itself, specifically an individual branch of it, becomes destructive to those ends it is the duty of the other branches to step in and stop the usurpation.
Boehner is forcing Issa, or working in concert with him, to create this foolish notion that the Executive is unaccountable, that there is nothing the Legislature can do. This is untrue. Besides the money, there is IMPEACHMENT as well.
The fact of the matter is that John Boehner is refusing to do what has to be done. It is time for everyone to ask John Boehner who's side he is on. If Barry, Eric and the rest of the cabinet want to try to claim that low level attorneys coordinated the entire cabinet and hang the whole thing on them, it is for John Boehner to step up to the microphone and say out loud how much nonsense that is. For if that is the case, Barry and his crew have demonstrated total incompetence AND they have all shown that the "reorganization" put in place as a recommendation of the 9-11 commission (DOHS) is a complete and utter failure and thus should be dissolved immediately.

Issa should enjoy it now, because his lack of progress on any issue is a sad commentary on the HOR. He'll be back in the minority in January.
I suspect that Rep Issa is playing this along so that it will get press time when October/November comes along. Up to this point this investigation has moved slowly and it is slowly going up the ladder of responsibility. Timing on something like this is as important as who knew what when.
Holder must be feeling a lot of pressure. A month ago just prior to the holidays, he snapped at a reporter at the end of a press conference. He knows this isn't over. Like a pressure cooker, the pressure and heat will rise slowly till it gets to the point that someone won't be able to take it anymore and they will spill all the beans.

The way I look at it is it won't be who the Republican President ends up being that turns the tide but the wave of patriots that swells in to a tsunami. We cannot rest, we cannot stop, we cannot fail.
The plan, what congress authorized and funded, was to have Justice, State and Mexico all working in unison on this "project". To date there is no evidence of State or Mexico being involved. Obviously if there were a signal by State that Mexico was ready to move forward then and only then should Justice have set in motion a "sting". To date there is no evidence of any plan having emerged from Mexico to compliment Justices' purported sting. Sans that evidence the only description this can be given is an abuse of power. Congress did not fund a locally run arms sale in hopes of finding criminals sitting in Mexican jails convicted of murder or arms possession that State could discover and make known to Justice who then might seek extradition for testimony here against the retailers who were ordered to make the sales, DID THEY ? . Maybe they did view dead Mexicans as the diplomatic solution to destroying the second amendment. Then again maybe there is more to this than anyone might even suspect. Can you say hundreds of millions of dollars in dirty money kicked back to the Obama campaign via unknown contributors of $5-$10 each? I thought so.
Perhaps this is not quite the timing yet to bring down this administration. It wouldn't hurt to have O and Holder spending the year before the election meeting with their lawyers and testifying…

If cunningham takes the 5th congress should take his pension and any earn pension benifits as he has committed crimes while in office. Any government employee who takes the 5th on any government business should be prepared to forefit their job and retirement benifits as of that day!
