Breaking: Copy of ATF Email Wanting More Gun Control in Wake of Fast and Furious
by AWR HawkinsFor the better part of a year, I have been saying that the end goal of Fast and Furious was more gun control. Rush Limbaugh has said this, Sean Hannity and other FOX NEWS personalities have said this, and the NRA and Gun Owners of America have said this, among others. (I had a post on Big Government on July 13th dedicated to making this very point.)
Throughout this time, I have had a copy of an email that was sent to me back in March of 2011. It’s an July 2010 email from ATF Special Agent in Charge Mark R. Chait to ATF Supervisor William Newell. It is copied to a third ATF Supervisor, William McMahon. Newell and McMahon were assigned to the Phoenix area at the time (and Phoenix just so happened to be ground zero for Fast and Furious.) In it, Chait asks Newell if he can find enough “anecdotal cases to support a demand letter on long gun multiple sales.” In other words, Chait was asking whether, in the midst of the flood of new weapons hitting the streets via Fast and Furious, a means could be found to justify more gun control.
And as you know, they found the “anecdotal cases” they wanted to find and used the very long sales associated with Fast and Furious to justify new reporting regulations (aka “gun control” measures) on 8,000 gun dealers throughout four Border States in the U.S. – Arizona, California, Texas, and New Mexico.
Looking at the email again today I thought I’d provide it here for all to see, it seems to be proof positive that more gun control was at least one of the motivations behind Fast and Furious:

And they went ahead with the new regulations using info from fast and furious, the USA take down continues unabated. Our entire government is now the peoples enemy.
Does any Act of Congress grant the BATFE the power to enact and enforce such a regulation?
Unexpectedly!
U.S. DOJ using Black OPS against its very own citizens…..we and the people of Syria, Iran, and Pakistan have much in common.
"Never let a good crisis go to waste." – The American Socialists Motto
It is a leftist/progressive mantra: "Achieve the goal through any means necessary." Never mind that the weapons were used to gun down countless Mexican citizens and murder a US Border Patrol agent, as long as the goal of tighter gun control and the elimination of the 2nd Amendment can be had, they'll do whatever it takes.
But Eric Holder said that wasn't the case! Does this mean we can't trust him?
I'm not consenting any longer to be governed by criminals who create crises in order to fundamentally transform America against her people's will into a totalitarian state.
Those Americans who are content to stay transfixed and tranquilized by their sitcoms and playstations are contemptible. At least the Leftist enemy is not lukewarm.
And they label Conservatives as enemies of the United States? Pitiful.
Government needs to be cleaned out and pared to the bone from the dog catcher to the president.
So, the government is now in the business of creating an extremely dangerous situation to falsely prove a point through manufactured anecdotal evidence.
Democrats on steroids!
When the ATF provided no surveilance, tracked none of the guns as they walked and made no arrests, there can be no doubt that this was planned as a 'backdoor process – just under the radar' to attack the 2nd Admendment. The ATF, the DOJ, ZERO and his corrupt administration are all clear and present dangers to US as well as to Mexico. We are under seige and there is a massive cover-up by the MSM.
The government demanding more gun control because more guns were being sold to the cartels is one thing. The government demanding more gun control because THEY PUT THEM THERE is PRICELESS.
Why not- I'm sure we can trust government to do the right thing!
I'm done as well…
Every one of these criminals needs to be cuffed and perp-walked to prison for this. Disgusting.
Holder is a murdering money launderer for the drug cartels. He should be wearing an orange jumpsuit for the rest of his miserable life.
I knew my stockpiling would pay off…….
It's past time to start identifying these "government agents". We need to put pictures, home addresses, and phone numbers with names. Perhaps if people contacted these guys and let them know that we don't like what they're doing and they should stop it immediately, we'd see compliance BY the government rather than complying WITH the government. Wake up folks, your government is the enemy.
And the facts remain the same.
They lied and people died
Query, Mr Hawkins–
Notice the subject line? "Re: SIR". "Sir" doesn't make much sense, and the all-caps suggests to me that SIR is an abbreviation or acronym for something. I wonder what?
If Eric "The Racist" Holder every told the truth, he'd stop breathing.
Meanwhile, the architect of F&F (Eric Holder) resorts to the Schultz Defense.

Thomas Jefferson said that when government becomes unbearably oppressive it is the right and the duty of the citizenry to resist and overthrow it. Would he think that time was approaching now, or is it already here?
One thing a government must do if it intends to become an all-powerful totalitarian state is confiscate the weapons of its citizens. The citizens then become subjects. The first step is to restrict access to guns, meanwhile carefully recording who buys them while they are still legal, so that later they know who confiscate them from.
A little personal anecdote related to this:
I had not bought a firearm since I was teenage, and I'm in my sixties now. My own teenager had never had a gun, and wanted to buy a small (20-gage) shotgun just to go out in the boonies and plink at cans with. Now, when I was his age, my brothers and I went with our dad to a department store with a sporting section, and we picked out a .22. Then we paid the clerk and went home with it.
Well, with my teen, at our local WalMart, we picked out a small shotgun and told the clerk we would buy it. I thought we'd just pay and walk out with it, like we'd done with my dad. Silly me. This is not the America of my youth. First we had to endure a half hour or more of paperwork and phone calls. I had to fill out forms on a computer, answering all sorts of personal questions about my person (race, weight, even eye color) my life, my family, my employer, etc. The forms also wanted my social security number, but I was allowed to leave that that blank. Leaving anything else blank would have prevented the sale.
Then all this information had to be submitted electronically, while we stood around waiting. I couldn't believe how much time this was all taking. Next the salesclerk had to make a phone call to some federal agency, and we had to stand around some more waiting for approval. Just as I was about to tell the clerk to forget it, he said that permission had been granted and I was allowed to pay my money.
But the ordeal was not over yet. The store manager had to be called. I asked why. The sales clerk said that I was not allowed to touch the weapon while it was in the store–only the manager could do that. He then disassembled the shotgun and packed it in a box– a box that I could not touch. The store manager, a woman, then arrived and took the box from the clerk and told me to follow her out of the store. We could do no further shopping–we had to dutifully follow this woman out of the store.
When we were out in the parking lot, she handed me the box and said that I could never bring it back into the store, even if there were some defect or missing part in the shotgun. WalMart accepts no returns or even discussions on a gun sale. Any questions or complaints had to be sent to the manufacturer of the shotgun. WalMart would have nothing further to do with the weapon or the transaction. We felt like criminals buying crack cocaine or something.
And this was all for a small, inexpensive sport shotgun.
All through this, I kept remembering that time with my dad in the department store, when we paid the money, the clerk handed the weapon across the counter, and we walked out with it under our arm, with other men in the store smiling and remembering their own youth, plinking with a .22.
Now, who is storing all this information on me that I had to submit? Will I someday hear a knock at the door and find that some armed government agent has come to confiscate the little shotgun?
What has America come to? What would Thomas Jefferson say?
I am sure Holder's Inspector General will get to the bottom of this, and clear it all up.
It's perfidous.
Ditto, I thought exactly the same thing, what does "SIR" stand for?

I knew that this was an assault on the Second Amendment the instant I first read about it. I wrote about it in February, trying to spread the word, after being frustrated that so few were writing about it a month after I first read about it.
Even the Bigs were slow to grasp the gravity of this Scandal. It is a good thing seeing articles here regularly. I hope that continues because many are still totally unaware.
Old Media continues to ignore the reality of this Scandal and what it means.
GunWalker is PROOF POSITIVE that taxpayer dollars are being used to subvert the most important Individual Liberty, intentionally.
That folks, is organized, willful TREASON.
I hope everyone interested in learning more about The GunWalker Scandal visits these two sites – http://www.examiner.com/gun-rights-in-national/da... http://sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com/
If not for those two fellas and the whistleblowers' stories they have told, none of us would know anything about any of it today. We all owe them a great debt of gratitude for having the courage to speak out, to tell the truth, at great risk to themselves and their families.

Flood Congressman Issa's website with e-mails. I think we are well past the investigation point and on to the arrest warrants point.
What is SIR? Referenced from the e-mail subject line.
Classic projection. One of the things they are really, really good at!
My son in law is 30,he and my daughter used to get on me about posting these articles on my face book page, they would say I was to political and unbending in my staunch conservatism,I am not afraid to tell it like it is,well, now when I talk to them or listen in on their conversations at family functions they are transforming into conservatives,I hear my son in law use words like personal responsibility, entitlement mentality.
Watch it, you got some of that dripping sarcasm on me!
There is a price — our freedom!
Well for starters don't buy guns at Wal-Mart, they always escort you out. Shop at a local store even if it means a few extra bucks. This isn't cans of creamed corn we're talking about!
No, but their demand letter would serve as justification for anti-gun congressmen and senators to introduce and promote that new regulation….
Now that the BATFE has demonstrated that they are incapable of regulating guns that are notionally *in* their control, they no longer have any valid claim to the right to regulate the ownership of firearms among lawful citizens, who appear to be better at keeping those guns out of the hands of criminals than the federal government….
Ignore the pawns, take down the king……..
You forget, Obama has much as now is completely ignoring congress. He is ruling by fiat now.
Some people take longer to mature than others….
Unless they're mindless drones, they eventually come around….
Possibly Special Intelligence Report, or Special Investigative Requirement
Simply put, it's NOW the ONLY thing standing in THIER way…
Doesn't matter. BATFE can revoke the Federal Firearms License, the license to do business, of any gun store owner who does not comply. That is the only regulation BATFEIEIO requires to force compliace. That is all the BATFAGS required to force recalcitrant store owners to sell firearms to obvious straw buyers.
Not priceless. Jaime Zapata. Brian Terry. Several hundred Mexican nationals-not all of whom were involved in the drug war down there.
That would be nice-but as long as Johnny Crybaby is the Speaker o' the House, it ain't gonna happen.
Can anybody explain to me why the ATF even exists? Along with the dept of education, I'd say this would be a good place to start cutting the budget.
Walmart maintains one of the largest databases of customer information in the world. When any retailer asks for my info I always respond the same way by saying "no thanks, just ring up the sale please" and I hand them cash. Of course that apparently makes me a terrorist according to the FBI and Homeland security.
It was obvious what Obama's goal was ever since Hillary tried to make this exact case on FNCs Greta show and failed miserably. Just needed more under the radar fiddling of the truth.
I knew it when I heard it…because I remembered see a Youtube video that came out when this admin was just starting to talk about gun control on border states, before we knew about Gun Runner and Fast and Furious, I had heard that the border patrols were questioning the Admins concern of the guns being imported to mexico, there was not a gun problem until they started "letting" them take them over to mexico…I sort of put the two together when this scandal came out, that the government was setting the gun rights of the American citizens up for a take over. And I was right…This video was done before the scandal.

To me, gun control is being able to stay on target.
Both Bachmann and Santorum are good 2nd Amendment advocates.
That was a perfect picture of how national media's scare tactics have affected/impacted federal and corporate regulations. I'm pretty sure that you're information is logged and, when democratic/liberal legislators over-turn the gun-registry prohibition, will be handed over to the fed…isn't Wal-Mart one of very few firearms dealers that keeps this information?
We're located in New Mexico.
I want Bachmann!! I believe she has the best intention for America and its citizens on her agenda
YEP! They just have to be shown the truth, more than once sometimes.
This has been a set up from the beginning, because there was never an American gun problem in Mexico…before this admin set this program up, to take the right of American citizens away. This video was out back in 2009 when obama and his admin were just starting to talk about gun control. And since there wasn't a gun problem, they made one up.

Holder must go. Need I say more?
And I know Obama's former secret service was related to the story of the white house shooter. A Romanian Cugir SA was most likely one of the FF guns from him. The Islamist that claimed to be Jesus was in the vehicle when the gun was fired from the slowing vehicle, but he wasn't the one to peg the 1/2 mile strike on the room where the first family resides. No chance. A trained marksman did that. They took him to the Hampton Inn 600 miles away after the mission was complete then "picked him up" moments after the clerk called. Cause the clerk saw the picture of the guy they were looking for 2 days before. Oh how convenient.
One of the reasons for the white house shooter story was also gun legislation, but there is so much more. The traffic stop/photo op was the pre-strike coordination. There is a timeline to this story that tells the entire tale. There's a Mormon who went along with the FBI's narrative they were feeding him, there's actually a Bin Laden liberal admirer directly involved in this story too. And his hispanic family watched the shooter's transformation to Islam, and they yapped about all of it to spanish newspapers and TV.
They suck at these operatives anymore. Or there is more information available, which is more likely the reason it seems this way.
They have already tightened the rules. (The new reporting regulations (aka “gun control” measures) on 8,000 gun dealers throughout four Border States in the U.S. – Arizona, California, Texas, and New Mexico. Due to Fast & Furious.)
I'll give them my guns one bullet at a time!!!!
For some, it's that first paycheck…
When they see how little they get to keep….
Every reason to buy more….
I screwed up and thought Cain might do better.
My ass still hurts…
I think I am back on Bachmann. Santorum too.
Id truly like to know how such american-hating, freedom-hating A$$HOLES get in to positions of power in our government? And how much more STUPID can you get than the injustice dept and BATFE have been in this case?
Jeffersons exact quote was "a little revolution now and then can be a good thing" . And my personal feeling is that we have reached that point. Law, Academia, Media have become thoroughly marxist. Many politicians on both sides of the aisle have as well. Look at how the GOPs only conservatives get treated-Cain gets drummed out on baseless acuusations, and Bachmann and Santorum get deliberately ignored. The 2nd amendment right now is the only thing between us and total tyranny.
Marine-I OWN a gun shop(oddly, enough, in Maricopa county where F/F took place) I happen to know several of my competitors, and the owner of the gunshop where the weapon that killed Brian Terry was purchased was threatened by the BATFE if he didnt co-operate. I have ways I know around gun laws, and I will use them for those I trust. OTOH, I find excuses not to sell to Moslems or other middle easterners(dumbest folks I know and Im not kidding-I always run them thru the full gamut of regs before I tell them there name has come up and I cant allow a gun sale).
this would seem to be a pretty clear cut case of federal officials deliberately acting to undermine the Constitution…
mickigal – it's not projection it's out and out deceit. Projection is a psychological defence mechanism which is essentially an unconscious process that the person doing the projection isn't aware of doing. Lefty-loony progressives do what they do consciously and with the express purpose of deflecting attention and controlling the discussion.
Three things to remember about our current Federal government.
1. Criminals don't arrest their fellow criminals.
2. Lawyers don't prosecute their lawyer friends.
3. Habitual liars never tell the truth.
With the thugs in charge, do you really believe the Fast and Furious investigation will go anywhere near prosecuting those who are at the root of the problem?
Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms should be a convenience store.
and it would be best to continue to stockpile.
I'm not sure if you're agreeing with me or not…?I don't agree with denying legal purchasers who can honestly check all of the boxes and you are reasonably certain aren't going to be used criminally. Yes, I understand the guy who can't speak English and is wearing $20 worth of clothes from the second hand store trying to buy a Barrett .50 M82A1 and three AKs (even if he's “legal”) is a red flag — but where do you draw the line?In addition, the owner of my favorite local gun store is an Israeli Arab (don't think he is a Muslim though). Don't profile by nationality or ethnicity, there are plenty of actual clues you can use…
"I'll give you my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands"
Of course you can trust him! ……………..psst, hey MSMediacritic, ya wanna buy a bridge. shhhhh, it's real cheap
Im pretty sure Thomas Jefferson would say go to a mom and pop gun shop and buy 3 or 4 more weapons and as much ammo as you can afford because you're going to need it soon. Side note never buy guns at wallmart, they carry mostly seconds. when a company makes a production run they inspect them ,the good ones go to the smaller stores that only sell guns or are hunting supplys, wallmart buys the poorly constructed ones in bulk and sells them at discount. in the gun game mom and pop is the only way to buy.
The law was broken. Look up ITAR sub chapter 2778. Sending weapons to terrorists in Mexico. But that is only one aspect of this conspiracy executed by the Obama administration, that includes Clinton and Holder. Think like a Marxist chess player trying to create a revolution in the U.S. The Mexican President, Philipe Calderon has publicly said that he did not know Fast & Furious was going on. Over 40,000 Mexicans have been killed in the last two years. Who, logically thinking, do you think would be extremely pissed at the gringo's that aid the killers of the Mexican people? La Raza? MEChA? These groups think that the southwest U.S. belongs to them historically, and they want it back. Do you think they might need guns? What about money to support their revolution? The DEA has been taking tens of millions of dollars from Mexican narco-terrorists and depositing it in US banks, so they say, for the purpose of tracking the money back to the drug cartels. Does this make sense to anyone? DEA agent took money from Mexican drug cartels and laundered it for them? The money was funneled to LaRaza and MEChA. So the revolutionaries are armed and funded in LA and the southwest. Obama keeps fanning the OWS focusing them on Wall Street, in the north east. Unions thugs are clustering in Wisconsin and Ohio focusing anger at those Governors. The DNC National Convention Is being held in the southeast in North Carolina, a notably union-unfriendly state. How do you think SEIU and AFL-CIO Trumpka will take that purposeful snub? The Progressive Marxists have got the summer of 2012 covered. Fundamental transformation, just like Obama promised. Everyone ignored his Marxist grandparents, mother, father I & Ii, his college days, and his Marxist terrorist weather underground friends from Chicago. Well, they're heeeeeerree.
This letter is old news and only the completely obtuse would think that FF was about anything but gun control. It was obvious the day the story first broke over a year ago.
90% + F&F = treason.
Congressional legislation, absent a full fledged Amendment approved by state legislatures, cannot trump the Constitution and last time I checked, the Second Amendment is still there within it.
The licensing point is made below and it is long past time that folks point to THAT part of the problem.
The government has NO authority to "license" the exercise of INALIENABLE RIGHTS.
All perfectly true…but the federal government has taken no interest in that particular Constitutional constraint for quite some time. I'd like to know whether Congress has passed an "enabling law" that permits the BATFE to cook up whatever regulations it deems "reasonable and proper." It would be unConstitutional, of course, but that hasn't stopped our Congressvermin or the regulatory anthill in a thousand different venues.
("Reasonable and proper," translated from Washingtonese, means "drop 'em and bend over.")
What? You mean Hell is freezing over!
They where for the Mexican Cartels!!!
None of them really fit; I have a hunch that in this context SIR has an ATF- or F&F-specific meaning.
Marine-we are in agreement, maybe our methods are different, but our intent seems to be the same(I also happen to be a former Marine).
