Gov. Rick Perry Has Come Out Swinging Against Obama and Fast and Furious
by AWR HawkinsGov. Rick Perry took the Republican field by storm when he announced his candidacy in August. As a matter of fact, he seemed unbeatable. He did this by bringing in something the rest of the field was desperately lacking – swagger. He was a gun totting cowboy who was unapologetic about his pro-life, pro-marriage, pro-Christian roots. And when he talked, citizens in the heartland heard the voice of someone who loved America as much as they did.
However, since those first weeks following his entrance into the race Perry has lost traction and appeared at times as weak as he once did strong. But as of late, he seems to have found himself and especially this week, has come out swinging at business as usual in Washington, Obama’s failures in intelligence gathering and border security, and the ongoing saga of Fast and Furious.
Of the business as usual crowd in DC, Perry spent time in Iowa talking about “creating a part-time Congress, ending lifetime appointments for federal judges and shuttering dysfunctional agencies.” These things are in perfect harmony with what Perry was telling Americans back in August, when he could do no wrong, and when he promised to make Washington as inconsequential in our lives as possible.
The Texas Gov. has also been right on the mark in his criticism of Obama.
Regarding Obama’s refusal to allow our military and special agents (covert and otherwise) to interrogate captured terrorists in way that gets results—in a way similar to those allowed for a time by President George W. Bush—Perry said:
We’ve really failed … in our ability to collect intelligence around the world. This administration in particular has been an absolute failure when it comes to expending the dollars and supporting the CIA and the military intelligence around the world to be able to draw in that intelligence that is going to be truly able to allow us to keep the next terrorist attack from happening on American soil.
This is a crucial point. Since Obama took office, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and Bush have all born witness to the success of the enhanced interrogation techniques that Obama refuses to employ for fear of offending our enemy. Perry is right on when he says that we are missing crucial intelligence at this point in time.
During Tuesday’s Republican debate, Perry talked about the need to secure the border in order to take away the chances of “Iranian-backed terrorists crossing into the United States from Mexico.” And although he also spoke of ending the flow of drugs and illegal immigrants coming across that same border, the mention of the threat from Iranian-backed terrorists struck a nerve with those who remember the Iranian-backed plot on the life of the Saudi Ambassador in the U.S.
And in an op-ed Monday in the Washington Times, Perry took Eric Holder to task:
Holder’s proclaimed ignorance [of Fast and Furious] leaves Americans to draw one of two conclusions: Either he is guilty of extraordinary bureaucratic incompetence or he is guilty of a cover-up meant to shield him from the consequences of an operation that has left at least one federal agent dead and continues to imperil many more.
Perry then added: “Either way, it is high time for Mr. Holder to step down. If he refuses to resign, Mr. Obama must fire him immediately.” (That’s good stuff coming from a governor who joins 52 House members calling for Holder’s ouster.)
While none of this means Perry is guaranteed the Republican nomination or that he’ll win in Iowa, New Hampshire, or South Carolina, what it does mean is that he’s starting again to sound the way he did in August (especially when you couple these things with his ongoing call for a flat tax). Sounding this way, he exudes strength.
Thus I’ve only one thing to say: Keep swinging Gov. Perry, you’re starting to connect with some of these shots.

Obama and Holder should be frogmarched into prison for this. Unfortunately I doubt anyone above the level of grade D flunky (if even that) sees any jail time over this murderous treason.
I don't want Holder to resign. I want him indicted. If we discovered the Mexican government was smuggling arms – including machine and and shoulder-fired missiles – to American right-wing militia groups we would consider it an act of war. SInce Obama considers us no different from other countries then that same standard should be used. Obama and Holder have committed an act of war against Mexico.
Ya'll who have lost sight of Perry need a little "history lesson" about Texas and Texans…………..The city of Houston is named for Sam Houston, first President of the Republic of Texas, then Govenor of the State of Texas and then resigned when Texas joined the Confederacy to sustain slavery. Houston, when he was General Houston led a strategic retreat across Texas leading Santa Ana into a false sence of invincibilty, then at San Jacinto he sprung the trap he set, a trap that only he knew. He was being hounded by others under his command to stop and fight but he continued on until he was ready……………it took less than 30 minutes to decide the outcome of the war with Santa Anna. Many Texans are less than glib with their speech giving, they let their actions speak. Perry will find his footing and once again lead the conversation to Obama and his failures.
How can so many people be OK with government not wanting citizens to own handguns yet sell anti-aircraft artillery to Mexican drug cartels? The only answer I can come up with is mental illness.

TS, Ms Chastain was somewhat incorrect in her assessment. The question asked was regarding dealing with the increasing border violence, not about gun running, and Perry answered accordingly. I will admit that he and the others missed a great chance to lambast the current administration on its ineptitude and incompetence regarding Gun Walker, etc before a national audience.

I submit there needs to be a debate with the entire premise of it being "Border". After that debate, and the fallout that would come if there were serious questions asked directly, there should be a debate with the premise being "Inalienable Rights".

As I have said all along, there is not yet one declared candidate for President worthy of sitting behind the Resolute Desk as President of these united States. It would be better for Perry had he also included Obama in culpability for fast&furious. Holder is but a facilitator and one conduit in the destruction overtaking America – Obama and his handlers are the precipitators of the evil. Nothing Holder does is without Obama's approval.

Sure the MSM will paint Perry as petty and vindictive even radical, but it's checkmate and Texas is the only state that can do it because of their charter. Resign? I disagree. Eric Holder is an ENEMY of the United States and he should therefore be IMPEACHED, DISBARRED, and sent to prison. I am not a Perry fan, but I do live in the lone star state. Our state constitution also allows us to leave the union if we must. I do not think Perry has the belief and conviction it would take to do that. Here is why, when the groping by the TSA had started, here in the state capital they passed a bill to stop it. The FEDS said if the state enforced that bill they would make Texas a no fly zone. Guess what? Perry, folded faster than my socks.

The State of Nebraska (perhaps the reddest state in this nation) would not let them build a pipeline. The pipeline's proposed route was directly across the Ogallala aquifer in the Sandhills of Nebraska. In some parts of the proposed route, the water table was between 5-10 feet below ground. That is right. Five to ten feet of sand is all that separated this pipeline from a natural disaster of historic proportions. There is more water underground in this aquifer in Nebraska than there is water in Lake Superior. Our economy is directly tied to this water (Nebraska is the world's leader in center pivot irrigation). You want to talk Pakistan. Well, you had better read Rick Perry's comments from the last debate before you stick your foot further in your mouth.

The best solution I can think of is to deny benefits to illegals at the federal level. These are the real magnets for illegals to come and stay. Before the "Great Society" of Johnson, Migrants would come to work and go home when the season ended. Now they stay because they get money and benefits from the government between and during employment which draws in the rest of the family. There's no reason to go home now. Cut off the benefits, as evidenced by Arizona and Alabama, and they'll go home when the work dries up.
At which point, I would sell my home and pick up roots which were laid 55 years ago and hang a sign on the vacant property which read: GONE TO TEXAS!!!

Unions, however, are complaining loud and long about the government's blockage of the project – and the thousands of union jobs it will create……
