Eric Holder Feigns Ignorance of Operation ‘Fast and Furious’ Now, But He Bragged of Overseeing Its Implementation in 2009
by AWR HawkinsNews about Operation “Fast and Furious” is now ubiquitous. Acting ATF Director Kenneth Melson’s Fourth of July testimony to Senator Charles Grassley and Representative Darrell Issa blew the cover off what appears to be one of the biggest political cover-ups in the last 50 years.
In the middle of it is Attorney General Eric Holder, who now feigns a blissful ignorance about the whole mess: having nothing to say about its beginnings as Operation “Gunrunner” or its latest incarnation as “Fast and Furious.”
For those who might not know, Operation “Gunrunner” was the plan to sell guns to “straw purchasers” with suspected ties to the Mexican cartel. Apparently, ATF was then banking on those purchasers to walk the guns across the border into Mexico. Operation “Fast and Furious” was the plan to follow those guns until they were in cartel hands and then make apprehensions. (For the record, I concur with those who believe this was all an attempt to flood the border with weapons in order to create a degree of chaos sufficient to convince us of the supposed-need for more gun control in America.)
Anyway, the problem with Holder’s feigned ignorance is that he gave a speech in Cuernavaca, Mexico, on April 2, 2009, in which he boasted about Operation “Gunrunner” and told Mexican authorities of everything he was doing to insure its success.
Holder told the audience:
Last week, our administration launched a major new effort to break the backs of the cartels. My department is committing 100 new ATF personnel to the Southwest border in the next 100 days to supplement our ongoing Project Gunrunner, DEA is adding 16 new positions on the border, as well as mobile enforcement teams, and the FBI is creating a new intelligence group focusing on kidnapping and extortion. (Italics mine)
But once the whole thing got crazy, and “Fast and Furious” left Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry dead, Holder and others in the Justice Department went from boasting about such projects to pressuring people like Acting ATF Director Melson to keep their mouths shut.
Melson is on record saying that “Justice Department officials sought to limit and control his communications with Congress.” Moreover, when he saw the storm clouds rising and attempted to reassign “every major official involved” in Operation “Fast and Furious,” Melson said “Justice Department officials directed him and other ATF officials to not communicate to Congress the reasoning behind the reassignments.”
Folks, I’m not great at math, but I’ve got simple math mastered. And figuring out what’s going on here doesn’t seem much harder than 2 +2.
Just think about it: Holder was as proud as he could be over Operation “Gunrunner” until the fiasco fell apart and over a thousand guns flooded into Mexico unaccounted for. (It seems we find them now when they’re recovered from crime scenes, along with the body of the victims killed by those using the weapons.)
One of Representative Issa’s staffers is on record saying: “[The Operation] ‘Gunrunner’ investigation points much higher than [the] ATF director.”
Does that mean it points toward Holder or Holder’s office?

I am wondering what the hell is taking so long for ISSA to have Holder rounded up, and taken out in shackles and cuffs. I hope this story does not die, the fact that he has not been rounded up, really makes me wonder about the leadership running the investigation.

After putting together a report on state and federal enforcement issues a year before and chasing after Sheriff Arpaio from the first day of the Obama Administration, he had the nerve to tell people he hadn't studied the issue.
Obama is cooking his own goose for not making a change in the AG post at the half-way point of his administration. The message is: Obama likes what Holder is doing.
they need to get holder in to testify, and catch this utter pos to say under oath what he knows. then see if he tries to lie to congress, and he will then be tossed out on his butt. i do think trying to get higher than holder will be much more difficult, but if there is smoke, we must look into it.
This bastard needs to go to prison. Gunrunner was a purely ideological crusade against gun ownership in America, and had nothing to do with fighting drug cartel in Mexico. It was only a matter of time before someone so twisted by a corrupt and evil ideology got someone killed like this. Can you imagine if this had happened during GWB's presidency? It would be on every front page.
I hope the trail leads straight to the White House.

The other part of Melson's testimony was that DEA, Homeland Security and the FBI were helping to finance this operation, even supplying money to the straw purchasers to buy the weapons. Which means that taxpayer money was being spent to supply weapons that would lead to the murder of Americans and Mexicans.
This administration has the blood of innocents on its hands. This was known and approved at the highest levels of every federal "security" agency, the DOJ, and ultimately, the White House.
This corrupt racist is going to hell if not jail.

I don't think that would matter now. The cat's out of the bag on this, and it goes WAY beyond just holder. This operation had active participation by the heads of DEA, Homeland Security, and the FBI. So what's Ubama going to do? Fire the upper-echelon of ALL these agencies while still claiming ignorance about the operation? I don't think that even HE could pull off that big of a lie.

Which police force is going to arrest Holder? He controls most of the Federal police forces. Issa could ask the Capitol Police to arrest him but I am not sure they would comply because of jurisdiction issues. BTW: totally agree that Holder should be arraigned by Congress.

I’ll say this over and over again…..this is a scandal of EPIC proportions and every day that nothing is done, adds to the disgusting revelation that this administration has NO desire whatsoever to cooperate in the investigation, nor prosecution of any official involved in Operation Fast and Furious. This was a blatant attempt, at the expense of the American taxpayer (and the death of two border agents) to legitimize the disarmament of the American populace. It was a blatant attempt to deceive the American populace and this administration will continue to deceive, outright lie and refuse to cooperate with anyone attempting to investigate this crime.
This administration will use any and all methods they choose, legal or not, to draw attention away from the outright criminality of Operation Fast and Furious. The fact that Holder has NOT been brought up on charges is the evidence, there in and of itself.
America is not stupid….this goes all the way to the top. And we are left with only a small “handful” of legislators that see this whole affair for what it is. And the sad part about all of this is that we can probably expect them to remain alone in their quest for the truth.

This story must not be buried. Conservative Talk Radio and Fox News need to explore this like the New York Times and the Washington Post did with Watergate.
The reasoning and utter stupidity of this operation should lead to people being fired and brought up on criminal charges. If this was a scheme to convince the American people that we need strict gun control, then it is conspiracy. Such ideas can only originate at the top.
Issa and his committee needs to keep probing to find out the truth, whereever it leads. If this plot started within the administration, we will witness Watergate II with Obama stonewalling all attempts to get information. Nixon did this, but eventually he was forced to resign. What would he have been impeached and removed from office for: obstruction of justice.

Hey, Hawkins, a bit of research is called for. Operation "Gunrunner", which Holder touted in his Mexico speech, is NOT THE SAME PROGRAM as "Gunwalker/Fast & Furious."
"Gunrunner" is a righteous program, begun under the last administration, and has not had a hint of impropriety or scandal. "Gunrunner" is a long-rage weapons interdiction program, not a short-range weapons supply scheme.
Holder is the lynch pin cover man for this whole anti-American take-over operation. Once he's hauled out of there the house of Omarxism will fall. Be aggressive prosecutors. There's a lot there to work with! America sees it all, so can you.
My suspicion is that he's going from bottom to top, not top to bottom. If Issa turns lower-level people and gets them to tell the truth, he eventually (sometime around convention time, maybe) be able to bring charges against the higher-level people and bring the whole house down. Decapitating the Justice Department is counterproductive at this point – the corruption is systemic.
If, however, Issa keeps the pressure on (it looks like he will) then we Americans will get the best possible outcomes: the pressure will cause the JD to cover up more, which will be exposed, and the resulting expose will reach as high as possible and hopefully drain the swamp.
Patience is our friend here, as long as Issa does his job. There's really no where for Holder to hide now…

The answer is simple and right in front of you every other day: Barack Hussein Obama. An operation under the justice department (which controls BATFE) of this magnitude cannot be unknown and unapproved by the White House.

Obama either approved it (do you think Obama keeps out of anything) or knew about it and approved it (which fits with the other repeated failures he has been involved in).
