NAACP Is Not At All Serious: They’ve Missed the Real Issues

The NAACP has missed the target. Their target should not be the Tea Party, but instead the larger issues facing the Black community: astronomical unemployment rates (15.5%) and the breakdown of the Black family, which result in higher drop-out rates, disproportionate incarceration rates and teen pregnancy rates (12.6%). These issues should be the focus of increased scrutiny by the NAACP.
This NAACP Resolution is consistent with the Obama administration tactic of demonizing and blaming someone else for your own failures and shortcomings, and not take responsibility and accountability.

I applaud LTC West, unfortunately, as we have seen in the past decades, when black leaders like he, Star Jones, and Bill Cosby speak the truth, they are shunned from the black community as a whole as sell-outs. Organizations like the NAACP take the same data points that LTC West points out, but uses them as "proof of racism" instead of an indicator of poor choices made by individuals.

I also have issue with the constant use of "African American" to describe persons of "color" as defined by the NAACP or others. My roots trace back to Ireland and Germany, but I call myself "American". If you have a dual citizenship with an African country, or immigrated to America from an African country (becoming an American citizen legally of course), then use the term, otherwise you are an "American".

I went to school in the American south and besides the usual black on white racism, remember clearly an episode when white Afrikaners came to give a presentation about their culture. Not five minutes into their talk, they were shouted down by "African Americans"–some of whom even went up to them and spat on them–all the while screaming at them that they weren't "true" Africans. The vitriol was out of place and embarrassing, especially coming from people who had never been out of the Deep South and were clueless about South Africa. I was ashamed and appalled. Later I walked up to several of the Afrikaners and apologized for my fellow "countrymen." They were, needless to, shocked at how they were treated. Unfortunately for me it was a daily occurrence. Throughout my undergraduate education, I, like them, was hated for no other reason than because of the color of my skin.

I said in a post yesterday that if there is ANY existing organization that would "embrace" peoples of ALL races, it would be the Tea Party. It is a crime and a shame that the NAACP can't see past their bigoted noses to realize they have a multitude of friends through the folks that make up the Tea Party as well as those who support it.

Dr King was one of the most amazing people. To meet him, to be in his presence was bigger than life. You could FEEL love pour out of this man for America and for every man, woman and child in this nation. He was NOT dedicated to blacks. He was dedicated to HUMANS.
His assassination took away from this country one of the most promising and great leaders we have ever had. It was a crushing blow for everyone who knew him, who worked with him, and for civil rights. And watching the NAACP DEVOLVE after his death was just so very sad. Inevitable but sad.
This really speaks to the effect the presence or absence of TRUE LEADERSHIP can have on any group. With him, the NAACP was a force for good, for everything American and righteous and good in this nation. Without him it was just politics and power, money and it's inevitable corruption.
While I praise Dr King's leadership role in the NAACP I believe that the Tea Party can ill afford ONE such leader…..even a great one. I believe our strength lies in our ability to find gems of leadership all across this nation and let them all shine their own unique light in their own states and districts.
I did email Project21 and thank them for their stand with the Tea Party. I urge others to. These good folks are making a difference and bucking their own organization to do it, in the true spirit of Dr King.

I was 9 years old in 1968 when Dr. King was assassinated. My dad was the first "white" alter boy at a black church and took great pride in his heritage. We as a family, learned to embrace the "individual" in all people thanks to him. It made growing up in a neighborhood consisting of a virtual equal amount of black family's as well as white families worth my while. I was raised by "nannies" who were black while my parents both worked to make a comfortable life for us.
It hurts when labeled something you were raised not to be. It had to be a great moment in your life to meet Dr. King. Everything I ever knew of him from my family and those surrounding us was positive and inspiring.
On the upside, that sham of a trial in which hard evidence has yet to appear seems to have run out of bluster and bullsheat so it looks like Blago's gonna be available……

I guess I'd best read the article then, because the title pissed me off. Out of hand, I'd say that the NAACP was dead serious. Words have meaning and shouldn't be thrown around casually (imho). I'll get back to you after I've educated myself on the article.
Technically, it is the presence of all colors. We perceive it when all visible wavelengths of light are scattered and reflected. Conversely, "black" is what is perceived when no wavelengths of visible light are scattered back to our eyes.

What I mean by that is, with so many Black and minority organizations, as well as some that are not, always shouting INEQUALITY and RACISM has the Black community thinking that they really ARE not equal or capable as any other White or Asian or Latino or whatever background person? For example, if someone is always saying to me, the world is against you, everybody hates you and so on, I think I might start to think that is how things really are, and therefore, give up? We have Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, and now our President, using the race card on it seems like a daily basis. So why would Black people FEEL like they can accomplish anything when "Their own leaders" tell them THEY CANNOT?
I for one believe that it starts in the home with the family, with good values, LOVE, RESPONSIBILITY and EDUCATION. IF you have the love of your family, if you accept responsibility for your family and you never stop educating yourself and your family of the TRUTH, then people WILL be able to do anything. This is obviously not the case in the Black community and it makes me very sad. Some men are fathers to multiple children with multiple women and don't care much about the well-being of either. There is no family bond, no feeling of responsibility for that woman and child, and no responsibility for themselves. Please don't get me wrong, I am certainly not saying it is ONLY in the Black community, but it is much higher than the average of all, let's say. IF someone is always telling you that the world Hates you and the World OWES you something, WHY would a people take responsibility for themselves? Regardless of color?
The Black Community, in my opinion, has to Stop thinking that they are owed something. That is something FAR TOO MANY Black leaders spout every chance they get. They have to stop thinking that everybody is racist and hates them, or won't give them a fair chance because of their skin color, because that is what leaders tell them.
It must be made clear by the leaders of the Black Community, that the Black community Listens to anyway, that they are NOT owed anything. If you Want something, you have to go out and EARN IT just like Everybody else. You have to get that education. You have to treat others as you would be treated, not feeling like everyone they meet that is not Black is out to get them.
I for one do not see a persons skin color. I take a look at their SOUL. Are they a GOOD PERSON. Does that HUMAN BEING want to better themselves? Does that HUMAN BEING go after what they want by education and hard work? Do they treat ME as a HUMAN BEING, as I treat them? I know everyone loves, regardless of color. I know everyone wants certain things in their Life, regardless of color. But how does that HUMAN BEING go about doing it? Do they believe that the world hates them and owes them everything? Or do they give what they want to get, like Love, Hard Work, Education, Family, and all the good things in life.
Living a life the way so many of these groups like the NAACP believes, is NOT good and NOT true. Don't you think we should start with rejecting hate-mongers and replacing them with TRUTH-mongers? I think once the Black community realizes that they've been had and USED by so many of these groups, they will realize that life IS NOT EASY. You have to go after what you want, and you have to do it in a good and intelligent and loving way.
I sure hope the Black community starts to believe the TRUTH instead of the HYPE about Racism, and also realize that hating ANYONE because of the color of their skin, whether White OR Black, is Wrong and it is RACISM. IF you are Black and you HATE White people just because they're white, you are a Racist. And Vice Versa. There are no special exceptions to LIFE just because a person is a different color. The Black Community has to start learning this because the Black leaders, like Sharpton, Jackson, NAACP, etc., WILL NOT TEACH IT. They have used Racism to get fat and rich, just like any other dishonest person would use any other UNTRUE thing or tactic.

They have abandoned their very laudable aim, the advancement of blacks in America especially during the Jim Crow era. Unfortunately, they have abandoned the aims of "advancing" their constituency through merit and hard… work and bought into program of hate, decisiveness, and smear tactics as articulated by the likes of Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and others who run "Racism, Inc". As a person who has lived in an inter-racial relationship that has produced a wonderful, intellectually gifted son, I can tell you that neither I, nor his mother has ever used the cop-outs and excuses nor demanded special privilege and consideration that organizations like the NAACP espouse and demand. Everyone hoped that Obama was going to be a post-racial President that would further unite America and lead us to brighter future. Instead he has become the most racist President that America has ever seen. Obama, Holder, Lee , Lewis have all shown their true colours and rather than moving forward to solve what ills America, have chosen to settle the old racial scores from centuries past….Very sad.
For Hillary, timing will be everything. Before she can move against Obama, she will have to leave the administration. Do it too early and she will be branded as a traitor and probably racist to boot (why not, they will hit everybody with the r word.) If she leaves too late, she won't have the time to build, or re build the Clinton political machine and raise the funds for a 2012 primary run. Plus factor in the fact that she is just a horrible politician, unlikeable, shrill, with a tin ear and Obama will have a huge structural advantage with his Presidential and Democratic Party resources at his beck and call. Probably her best shot will be after the November elections, if they go heavy for the Republicans. Perhaps this December, depending on how catastrophic the Obama record will appear to concerned Democrats who want to save their skins.
The reason that I enjoy watching Colonel West speak is because he gives the facts and knows the history of this country and the world. I wonder if the Black Caucas will let him join, if they do, he will be one against fourty-two. That will make it a fair fight. You are what all kids and men should aspire to be. Funny how the MSM is driving this message, dispite the fact not a single speaker who speaks for the movement has uttered a word to suggest such. The Democratic/Marxist machine is failing and they are grasping at anything now.
Col. West, i consider you a hero for your service to this great country and for the outstanding example you set for all Americans. You are doing far more to combat racism by being an outstanding role model for all than the NAACP, a once great organization, is now doing.
