Ron has worked in radio and TV news for more than 30 years. He was a journalism major at Brigham Young University, and began his career in the late 70's as a host of his own radio shows in Southern California and Salt Lake City.
Ron's first TV job was as a general assignment reporter in the early 80's at the ABC station in Salt Lake, then anchored news and sports in Yakima, Washington at the NBC affiliate. In 1984 Ron moved to Las Vegas where he was the sports director and anchor at the ABC station. In 2003 he was moved from sports to morning news anchor where he took the newscast from 4th place to number one by being real, conversational, and honest with the viewers.
Over the years Ron covered major international sporting events and news stories in one of the most fascinating cities in the world. From Mike Tyson to Steve Wynn, from Super Bowls to casino implosions, Ron has covered it all.
Ron has interviewed many political figures, from Mitt Romney and Sarah Palin to Harry Reid and George Soros.
Ron is still very much involved in the media as a host of a radio show in Las Vegas and owns his own media relations company. Ron does marketing with NFL teams selling game used NFL items. Nevada: Now it’s the ‘People’s Truck!’
by Ron FutrellPicture this, a 40 year old guy who rides motocross on the weekends with his kids, loves rock music, hangs out with the Romney sons, speaks fluent Spanish, votes as a rock solid conservative in the Nevada Legislature and is now running for the US Senate to take on Harry Reid.
Meet the future of the Republican Party.

For years the Republican Party has said it needs to change, become more “real”, more “hip”—while sticking strong to its solid conservative roots. If Republicans want that change to happen, they need to find the right candidates to make it happen.
The US Senate race in Nevada has found such a candidate. Chad Christensen. For 8 years Chad has served in the Nevada State Legislature and he has a voting record that is as conservative as it gets. If you haven’t heard of Chad it’s because he entered this race after he saw that the other candidates either had no record to speak of, didn’t win elections, or they just were not connecting with Nevada voters. There’s something to be said for a fresh face in this race.
Oh, and he drives a truck. A “Dump Reid, Vote Chad Dump Truck.”
Harry ‘Pinky’ Reid Goes Off-Color
by Ron FutrellIt takes a lot to shock us Nevadan’s. We live in a state where gambling is open and legal. Prostitution is legal in some counties. Taxi cabs are wrapped with pictures of strippers and ads promoting Las Vegas take great pride in telling visitors that they can come here, do what they want, go home and pretend like it never happened (What happens here, Stays here!). You can’t tell me a little ol’ statement by Pinky from Searchlight (as Harry Reid called himself in a 2004 campaign ad) would set off a firestorm bloodier than a Mike Tyson ear bite. It has. It also sets up a bunch of spy vs. spy scenarios that would make Bugsy Segal proud.

In 2008, during the Barack Obama campaign for President, Reid said privately that it would help Obama that he was a “light-skinned” African-American, and that Obama speaks “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one”. The quote is in the new book titled, “Game Change”. Reid has given all the apologies and I’m sure he hopes this all goes away quickly, there is that election coming up Nov. 2
Let’s get this out of the way. Harry Reid is not a racist. I’ve known him for 26 years and that is not a problem here. Of course, words have meaning. Republicans George Allen and Trent Lott had their political careers virtually destroyed for much less and Democrats worked overtime to create the impression that the words were enough to send then packing. In 2006, Allen was hammered non-stop for calling an opposition campaign worker, “macaca”. It took days for the media to figure out what a “macaca” was, but they would make sure it was enough to run Allen out of his Virginia Senate seat, destroy any chances he had at the White House, and give the Democrats a majority in the Senate.
