Blago Holdout Juror Involved in Chicago Politics, Big Fan of NPR, Liberal Talk Radio

Jurors who have been interviewed so far will not identify the juror, other than to say the juror was a female.
FOX Chicago News reported that speculation is centering on juror Jo Ann Chiakulas of Willowbrook, after a second-hand acquaintance said that she has been saying for weeks that she would find Blagojevich not guilty.
Chiakulas is a retired director from the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Contacted Tuesday night, she told FOX Chicago News she would call on Wednesday if she wished to talk about the case.
On one count at least, Chiakulas voted with her fellow jurors, agreeing to convict Blagojevich of lying to federal agents.
This was since confirmed by CBS local news Chicago.
They actually could have reported more — because pre-trial, they had this to say about a female “retired public health director” on the jury panel:
Juror # 106, a black female believed to be in her 60s, is a retired state public health director who has ties to the Chicago Urban League. She has handed out campaign literature for a relative who ran for public office. She listens to National Public Radio and liberal talk radio shows.
Media accounts mention the campaign literature, but they don’t mention NPR and liberal talk radio. Why?
We know they read this description — why do they end their repetition of it at that point?
The media is quick to stereotype conservative-tilting Americans and attribute to them bad motives.
Think they’ll do the same here?
What were her motives for so egregiously ignoring the law to set a guilty man free that her fellow jurors had to confront her with her own oath to render a true verdict?
I am pretty accustomed by now to having my motivations questioned by the media, and having unethical or vile motives assigned to me.
How about this Chicago politics fan?
You know, to date, the Tea Party has done zero damage to anyone, and yet it is castigated daily by our hectoring press.
This woman just sprung a guilty man free and cost the taxpayers millions. And she bragged for weeks before deliberations she was set on doing just that.
Where did she get her ideas from?
I know FoxNews gets blamed a lot for all the “poison” it’s putting into the body politic — what poison did she ingest from NPR and liberal talk radio?
From where did she get the idea that it was right to spring a guilty man in the interest of some political gamesmanship?
Think it’s just an oversight that they left this out there for a blogger to find?

If it can be proven that she had decided the case long before the evidence was in, this should result in a mistrial and a new trial. But this woman is a progressive, for whom "the end justifies the means". Should we be surprised? This is a stunning development.

A mistrial has already been declared. They will start a new trial soon, and it will likely run up close to the November elections. The next trial will be a great reminder for the voters of the corruption embedded in the Democratic machine.

Jury nullification, can be fun! Bad news for Blago, Fitzgerald is a tenacious prosecutor, and he’s gonna try again.
I must say however, for all the ballyhoo about how good a prosecutor this guy is, this was the identical conviction he attained in the Valerie Plame witch-hunt, which ensnared Scooter Libby, a process violation.
Well here's a more reasonable conclusion without releasing this woman's personal details so she may be attacked. Golly, an intelligent voice of reason.
So why release this woman's name and personal details? What is there to be gained from that when a prosecutor is at least attempting to adhere to the system for a 2nd try?
I wanted to see Blago bring down Rham, Valerie Jarrett, and Obama, which he easily could have done! but the fix was in. OK, I know I'm going to have a whole bunch of flak thrown at me, but here goes: They don't come more conservative/libertarian than me, and no one hates corruption more than I do. However, had I been a juror on the Blago trial, there would have been a hung jury on all 24 counts. AND, if there were a provision to do so, had I been a juror, I would have fought my damnedest to make certain there was a recommendation to indict Patrick Fitzgerald and his team for prosecutorial misconduct.

A fundamental premise of this country and its exceptionalism is, as John Adams said, "a nation ruled by law and not by men." Adams should have added a caveat, "BUT take extraordinary care in screening the calibre and character of the men you select to enforce said law(s)," because with some of the men we select (judiciary as well as federal, state and local prosecutorial offices), we're allowing the 'rule of men and not of law.' Fitzgerald's behavior in both the Plame "investigation" and the Blago case show him to be not of a calibre or character to be more concerned with fair and equitable pursuit of justice than with bullet-points on his resume or making his political bones.
But, is Blago corrupt and likely guilty of something? Probably. But when you have corruption in the investigation and prosecution of a case, the evidence itself is corrupted and it is then no longer possible to fairly determine, weigh and measure the actual guilt or innocence of a defendant. As Minister Justice Mather said (Salem, 1692), "It is better that ten guilty witches go free than that one innocent person be condemned."
I'm just glad he is out of office. Illinois will likely be the first to be forced to default, even before California. As much as I would like him to face proper punishment for his crimes, jury nullification such as this is the unfortunate price we occasionally pay for a free society. Hopefully, they will strike a deal to avoid a retrial, he can spend some time in prison and pay some restitution, and the people of Illinois won't have to waste another year and tens of millions of dollars, and we can put this disaster behind us.
The FIX was in since they seated this jury. I bet an audit in 6 or 8 months will show this "juror" has received a nice *bonus* from the Chicago Machine.
For the retrial they should do a last minute jury switch, right at the last moment – like with "Scarface" Al Capone.

I live in southern suburban end of IL 2(Triple J's district) and there are people here who would vote to acquit Adolf Hitler if he had a 'D' in front of his name. that not only did this woman announce before the trial began that she would not find the defendant guilty, but she maintained that position throughout the deliberations, regardless of evidence and testimony that proved the defendant's guilt enough that all eleven other jurors were convinced – and had to remind her of her OATH as a juror.
If Simplex wants to address that issue, there's a possibility for a conversation. But if all he's going to do is set up straw men to spar with, he can go back to the kiddie table and stay quiet.
Any juror who fails to uphold their oath as a juror SHOULD be called out, and made known to the public.

Jury duty is one of if not the most serious responsibilities a citizen can take on. Lying to the court and going into a trial with pre-conceived ideas is deceiptful at best, criminal at worst.
I said when the verdict came in, that there was a ringer on the jury. She needs to be investigated (if) she was saying publicly she would find Blago innocent even before the trial started. Doesn't this invalidate the whole trial, by the very fact that she had made up her mind and went against the rest of the jury in defiance.
When you go on Jury Duty the Judge asks all the Jurist you if they have any preformed opinions on the case and if you do and do not tell the Judge I think that is Contempt of Court.
