#OccupyOakland Sent Eviction Notice by City Hall; Protesters Defiant
by Alexander MarlowHours after Big Journalism reported on a death threat made against an ABC reporter covering the Occupy Oakland protest and following a week’s worth of videos at Breitbart.TV chronicling the demonstration’s descent into lawless disorder, City Hall has said that the tent city will not continue. Last night an eviction notice was issued that cited the “increasing frequency of violence, assaults, threats and intimidation.” [VIEW THE EVICTION NOTICE BELOW.]

A letter posted on the city’s web site at 8 p.m. expresses concerns about a wide range of public health and security issues surrounding the 10-day old camp in Frank Ogawa Plaza. No moves have been made by police or other officials to dismantle the camp since the notice went up.

Citing a rat infestation, numerous fire hazards, threats of intimidation and open displays of violence, Thursday’s letter from city officials appears to be a first step toward moving the residents out of the camp.
“We believe that after 10 days, the City can no longer uphold public health and safety. In recent days, camp conditions and occupants’ behavior have significantly deteriorated, and it is no longer manageable to maintain a public health and safety plan,” reads the notice posted on the city’s web site.
A pro-Occupy blogger for the San Francisco Chronicle attributes the eviction notice
to the footage of Occupy Oakland posted at the Breitbart sites:
The whole move toward eviction seems to have been started by the selfishness of certain specific San Francisco Bay Area Media types, and perhaps with a healthy assist from Breitbart TV.
What began nationwide as a run-of-the-mill gathering of various socialists and Communists plunged quickly into bedlam: squalor, violence, public urination, fire hazards, and public sex at Occupy Oakland. The Occupy protesters eventually banned media from the tent city and threatened the life of KGO-TV’s Amy Hollyfield, who was allegedly accosted by a man who said, “We shoot white bitches like you around here.”
Naturally, Occupy Oakland says it’s not going anywhere but City spokeswoman Karen Boyd says the complaints have been mounting and so a confrontation seems like a very real possibility.
Moreover, a far-left government like that of the City of Oakland acknowledging that the Occupy protest poses a risk to the safety and well-being of its citizenry could encourage and embolden other cities to further investigate the various protests.

Weather forecast is sunny and nice for the extended time. They are not going anywhere, and the cops and city will do nothing till someone is murdered in the camp. When that happens the OWS'ers will just throw the body blocks away from the campsite.
The Mayor was just upset yesterday because someone pooped on her car. This is the hometown that welcomes Raiders fans, these OWS'ers are nothing compared to them.
Oakland has a nice history of rioting. They keep destroying their own neighborhoods and then wonder why everything sucks. Go figure.
That spot is going to need Napalmed sooner or later, best to get it over with sooner, rather than later, so as to take care of the rat problem on the ground there while the rats are still all in one spot.
Well since they threatened to kill a local reporter I bet the news crews will want to show OWS getting hosed and more. Folks do not take threats like that too kindly.

That's an interesting perspective, FR. For those who are Tea Party supporters (LIKE ME), is it too far out-there to think that since they couldn't get "violence" out of the Tea Party, in order to shut them down that they would use the offenses of the OWS movement to justify actions against ANY protests, including the Tea Party?
It's at least an interesting thought. I don't put anything past the communityorganizer-in-chief in his effort to enact a true police-state on this country. We've already been labeled as "domestic terrorists" by the regime, AND we've been "compared" to the OWS vermin. So after they shut down the OWS crowd, will they use that same rationale to "shut down" the Tea Party in future demonstrations?

It is not the same thing. The Tea party obeys the laws. If it did not i would say they also need to be shut down when they try to rally. Our laws are very liberal when allowing for protest and demonstrations. IF the #OWS were following the laws i would be all for letting them stay and air their grievences.
#OWS is not following the laws and needs to be dealt with. They need to go to jail (Tent work camps in the desert will work fine for jail)

today, i spent a lovely, warm and sunny afternoon at the farmer's market in beautifully renovated old oakland, just blocks from the 'occupation'. don't judge an entire city, most of which offers the best in urban living, by the creeps who regularly manage to give the town bad press.

First, you let the Oakland Raiders use the occupiers as tackling dummies and then give the "Occupiers" a chance to leave, otherwise the next wave is set loose upon them, all the Raider Nation people, who should be half liquored up from watching the earlier tackling demo. After the Raider Nation gets done, tell the protestors they can leave, or the city will get tough with them. Videotape it, toss in some interview segments and then sell it in Oakland and other locales – to defray clean up costs.

I grew up in the east bay, Oakland is and always will be a hole. You can try dress it up any way you like, but even the people living in the million dollar houses on the hill live in fear. Its always just a heartbeat away from total anarchy. Urban living at its finest
