by Andrew MarcusWith the overturning of Prop 8 in California, we thought it would be appropriate to share this clip of a discussion we had last weekend with a couple of gay conservatives who were in attendance at the Uni-Tea Party in Philadelphia.
Note their constitution-centric take on marriage (gay or otherwise) as well as their experiences facing hateful bigotry from their peers on the ever Progressive Left.
These guys make a lot of sense.

Sad commentary that too many leftists today view conservatives as the real terrorists. With academia, media and entertainment trumpeting this narrative the phrase garbage in, garbage out fits, I suppose. Added proof that the Tea Party's vision is all-inclusive.
If they are fighting their own kind I suppose they would be open to ridicule from them, yes? They're effectively traitors. Of course Breitbart.com being so low down in the racism/bigotry debate has to say this is "hateful bigotry" in order to spin those charges leftwards. What a joke.
A breath of fresh air. Watch the video, highly recommend. I had to pick myself up off the floor after realizing I agreed with nearly everything they said. I was expecting the usual leftist dribble dressed in Conservative terms — but that's not what it is at all.
I'd be happy to have these guys in my Tea Party anytime.
Social conservatives should back off on the social politics and stand with gay right and non- prohibition of pot activist. You don't have to agree with the issues , all you have to agree with is the right to bring the issues up for a vote, and the right to challenge the vote in court…you can vote against either one. Social politics do not belong in the Federal sphere, these are local and state issues.

Just one more example of the REAL delineation of the issues we are confronted with in this country. It is NOT Black v. White, Gay v. Straight, Women v. Men. It is Conservative v. Progressive. And the Conservatives had better win for the sake of ALL of us.

I'm very pleasantly surprised to hear this point of view from people who I would typically expect to be extremely left-wing. I think that their should be more dialogue between people of opposing viewpoints on how to live together peacefully. The problem is, as these gentlement have seen, you can very rarely ever use logic when arguing with a liberal. I don't agree with the lifestyle they lead, but I do know that their lifestyle is none of my business, or the government's business, and that is the beauty of liberty!

Fantastic video! These young men are very brave to stand up and stay strong in their beliefs. As opposed to the leftist rantings and accusations with little to absolutely no substance, they are able to articulate their points, give examples and have actual discussions about their beliefs instead of the hatred and lies that are constantly being spewed from the Left. Well, as has been noted several times on Big Hollywood, Elton John has said that gay marriage is unnecessary, and that he's perfectly content with the civil union he has with his partner. Considering his "gay icon" status, you'd think that would get mentioned more…

Gay marriage is not a major tea party issue. It is a conservative issue and conservatives are not likely to ever support it. Even if you pass laws to the contrary, that will not make it right.
Marriage comes from religions based on moral values. Homosexuality is immoral, just as adulty is, so marriage can never be accepted until we find a new god or god is destroyed. But like adultry and about any other sin, it will still occur..
I would view these two fellows as just some more sinners, who are not yet ready to admit they have sinned. But that does not mean they are not welcome in the Tea Party, or the Replican Party. Because we all have sins.

Actually, the real left isn't fighting for "g.ay privileges" either. They're fighting for "g.ay anger." Just like they're fighting for racial anger, union anger, political anger, immigration anger. I am a moral agent so all actions I perform are due to my reasoning process. I pick my mates therefore I am responsible for those choices JUST LIKE the car I pick is due to my reasoning process. That is what distinguishes moral agents from animals. Moral agents decide actions… they do not perform actions driven by hormones, instinct or hard wired process. That is why moral agents require morality and actions require judgment because you rationally decide your actions.
Now I may prefer one sex to another the same as I may prefer a thin attractive woman over an overweight, ugly woman but I may still marry the fat, ugly woman. So I can clearly choose not to mate with the thing I am clearly more attracted to. If you pick your mates… you are rationally making decisions. If this were not the case then every hom.osexual would instantly mount any g.ay they met because they would be driven by forces beyond their control.
An orientation does NOT mean your rational mind stops making decisions. You STILL can choose NOT to pursue an action. All it means is you TEND TO like X over Y not forced by powers beyond your control to like X over Y.
BTW you also make an assumption that homosexuality is in the same category as heterosexuality. Can you explain the difference between heterosexuality and a pantyhose fetish or a breast fetish or a leg fetish? What makes something a sexuality vs a fetish?
But the point is moot. How you are attracted to someone does not harm another therefore you have a right to be attracted to them. I do not block anyone from doing this. But the point is ANY action you take can be judged and disliked just not blocked.
For example, boring people are harmless, maybe "born with" being boring (some cases Aspurger Syndrome fore example), but that does not mean I have to like them nor like that they do nothing with their lives. The only requirement is I cannot interfere in their lives using force. But I do not have to mindlessly accept them without question.
What you are talking about is 100% acceptance meaning no negative judgments. Even g.ays have expressed negative judgments against st.riaghts so clearly even THEY do not abide by this.
No party can use force against another to compel acceptance. ALL that someone can do is expect not to be interfered with and work for the acceptance of others.
So to answer your question, YES I could choose to stop being heterosexual and be h.omosexual if I made the rational decision to do so JUST LIKE I can choose to m.asterbate vs have sex with a real person or choose NOT to have sex at all even though there maybe urges driving me to do so. If I can choose to abstain from sex, I can choose to have sex with whomever or whatever I like. Again I may have TENDENCIES toward one or the other but those are NOT overwhelming forces beyond my control.
Actions = choices = judgment. Since you and I are moral agents, all actions were perform are up for judgment because we rationally decided them and were not driven to do them.

Hell, you don't have to advocate gay marriage to still appreciate and respect a person's natural right to chose what is good for their life, without feeling like second class citizens! Indeed, these men make a lot of sense, and I proud to call them fellow "conservative" citizens!

I'll listen to anyone, right or left, who has a well reasoned answer. Both of those gentlemen did. Of course the tea party would welcome them since the movement is about limited government, lower taxes and fiscal responsibility and both men are for those as well. It's the left ,usually, that bases opinions on labels rather than taking a minute to talk to someone and figure out what they really think and feel.
The "state", which as the two Tea Party guys rightfully noted, guarantees under Article I, Section 10, that no law invalidating contracts shall be passed by any "state". The "state" has allowed authority to be delegated to churches and synagogues and other legally recognized religious organizations, so they are able to perform the duty of the "state" in certifying the "contract" between two people as a valid contract. The religious entity forwards to the “state” the paperwork and a duly noted certificate is issued. The same certificate is issued if the parties go to a justice of the peace. The term "marriage" has both in Common Law and our current law always been described as between a man and a woman. See Black's Law Dictionary and Singer v Hara, 11 wash.App. 247 522 P.2d 1187,1193. I see no reason, under a desire for true liberty to to prevail, to deny anyone the right to enter into a contract for the purposes of gaining equal treatment under the law, which will guarantee the same legal benefits afforded those who currently are under the existing definition of marriage.
Where many part company with the current attack on "marriage", as I also do, is in an attempt to usurp the term for that which society in Common Law and our current state law holds as between a man and a woman; which is based upon a Judeo/Christian belief system and common law dating back through the millennium. This becomes then, a tact to diminish the religious basis of society which the current law and common law was founded upon, and is a method to negate religion in any aspect of governance merely because those of the "secular" religion do not believe "marriage" should be defined as between a man and a woman only. I agree. Both parties are collectivists. Both are statists. On the original Left/Right scale based on the original definition of left and right which came from the French National Assembly, Left is toward anarchy while right is toward statism. So the left in this country are actually more to the right than the conservative right is. Only libertarians are the true left or center group.
This is why I don't 100% back the conservatives since they too practice collectivism and wish to destroy liberty for the sake of special interest.
But right now its the left that is causing the most damage to liberty.
Face it the human race is a diverse species. Some are born with varying talents and abilities. Einstein was by no means a virtuoso pianist, Picasso was a moron in science compared to Nikola Tesla so this means you must accept the different results that individuals will achieve for themselves. To tell an inventor, you must labor all of your life to invent something and then the state will take 90% away. Why bother? You want to project idealism that this man will want to labor for the lazy class out of the kindness of his heart without realizing that the lazy class lacks the same kindness you expect from those with abilities. You fail to realize why central planning and collectivism fails; when the government punishes success and innovation and becomes the absolute authority and wants to take as much as possible and then be the distributor, those who are the innovators, the risk takers and productive tax payers scale back their productivity, activity and effort. The result is a slow death of the tax base. The next stage is the political class point fingers and say these people are to blame for your woes. We know what happens after that.
I would be proud to stand next to these Americans who believe in our country under the Constitution. I am embarrassed to know that these gentlemen cannot be able to think as individuals in the majority of the gay community. Love ya' guys!

Love these patriots! they are not self centered and don't think they are being screwed by America, but have the common sense to understand the Constitution.
Then you're just maintain privilege for a special interest ie religion. I'm not religious. Government should not be managing marriage and certainly not force me to pay for perks and privileges for an exclusive club I do not belong to.
