Worst ‘Danged’ Political Ad In History! Congratulations, John McCain
by Andrew MarcusThis ad from John McCain has to be one of the worst advertisements in the history of politics:
The stiff, scripted read serves as a perfect analogy to the way politicians like John McCain have failed to do anything to protect America’s sovereignty regarding our borders and immigration laws. Instead, they read meaningless words in a lame and transparent attempt to make us think they are “One of us,” working day and night to solve the problems that vex us all.
What a crock. They are just empty words being recited (poorly) from a script.
Besides, the “danged” fence, as John so condescendingly puts it, is not alone the answer. Ending the drug war and making legal immigration more accessible would cure most of the human smuggling issues currently plaguing this country.
Senator McCain, you have been in D.C. a long time. You and your party have failed to address this issue for decades, and this embarrassing ad encapsulates that failure pretty danged well.

A perfect example of a RINO and a career politician.
Totally out of touch with reality, the issues important to his constituents, and a total fake.
Vote him out.
Fortunately, from the news reports, most of his constituents aren't buying his sudden change of position
Time for John to be a good old soldier and fade away.
I haven't laughed like that since the last time I watched "Strange Brew". The steely glare into the camera at the end was just too over the top. Thanks for that.
Glenn Beck said, before playing the audio portion of the ad, that it would make his audience vomit.
Not quite, but close. This guy McCain needs to go home, rest up, chill out. He is of no help to us.
Get out of danged politics, John.
Words mean nothing as we have seen from our politicians. With McCain it's more of the same. Fence sitters
are of no use.
And another thing, what does this say for McCain's instincts, that he would allow this BS to go out?
Even if every word were true, it would still reek of amateurishness.
McCain from the We Can't Send Back 28 to 30 Million Illegal Aliens. My question is why not, Mexico did it.
The coming economic BOYCOTT as a result of this, oh so, required illegal alien law,…………
is nothing compared to the,……. representative BOYCOTT,…… McCain has subjected on the people of Arizona.
That truly was a lame danged video! What a waste of pixels!
The time has come for new conservative leadership. We are ill served by senile pols who are confused about where to stand, talk tough and have no heart for the fight. Let's send these shell shocked troops to the rear and bring up some real warriors!
I thank and respect Sen. McCain for his service to "Our Country" May God Bless Him for it, a true American Hero.
Senator it is time to retire and enjoy the remainder of your life.
I would like to know what the poster means by " making legal immigration more accessible "
John, time to start running your bride's beer distributors and count the number of homes you own You have been a buffoon and a global laughing stock for decades.
It is great fun watching a tired and worn out RINO try justify his existence by left wing style pandering to keep his job.
I respect McCain as a veteran, I respect him for not ever penning an earmark. However, he is NOT a conservative. If he were, he would not be running because he would believe in TERM LIMITS!!!!!!!!!
what's the difference between McCain and Arlen Spectre?
Thank you for your service, John.
It's time to go John. Washington has turned you into an old fashioned windsock that changes with the direction of the politcal winds.
We allow a million new legal immigrants entry each year, but we have a U6 unemployment statistic over %16. Making legal immigration more accessible isn't the answer.
Indeed. No one is saying we have to do it all at once. It might take a year or two. It would be time well spent in my opinion! We must first seal the borders.
you mention ending the drug war
ok, but end it totally or just for pot?
Let's for a minute stipulate that MJ is legal now, what are the arguments for keeping other drugs illegal?
this is the part of the drug legalization argument that never seems to get addressed.
I am open to hearing it and may be convinced, but until a comprehensive policy is presented, I can't support a cherry picked approach.
About 3,000 miles.
Senator, it’s too late run for president.
just a guess: make it easier?
I must say I am not upto date on the current policies, but it does seem very complex.
Yet another issue that needs a comprehensive policy developed so we can get on the same page, and know what each other is talking about.
I know it's not the 'popular' thing to say, but I don't see anything wrong with putting out a No Vacancy sign for all immigrants…..until the illegal ones are sent home to make room for the legal ones. Then we go back to the Vacancy sign. Yep, close the borders, enforce the existing laws. No excuses, no more compassion for criminals.
Yes, I'm cranky today.
It's time for that old fart to go home and shoo those dang kids off of his sidewalk. Pathetic!
Would anyone who is in favor of "relaxing" our current legal immigration process please point out a country that is more generous than us in its immigration policy? Or more easy to legally get into? There is rarely a more stupid reason to continue doing something than "it has always been done this way." Poll after poll has shown that Americans want both legal and illegal immigration tightened up and it is our right as a country to do so.
http://www.jdforsenate.com/ J. D. Hayworth for Senate 2010
amen, "shell shocked" perfect description of McLaim's desperation, running in circles like a
chicken with it's head chopped off, making a complete fool of himself. It's over Johnny boy!
Mr. Amnesty wants to build a fence?? right, with big wide open gates probably.
God McCain go away! Oh…and thanks a pant load for Barry!
Cut off all of the goodies (WIC, Sec.8, School, etc.) and they’ll self deport. These invaders got up here they can get back.
The 700-mile fence. Based on news reports we thought we were getting one of those tall steel fences (you know, the ones in the file photos) that would cover a third of the Mexican border. If Washington was wise enough to place them strategically, the project would go a long way toward securing the border.
But nothing is easy in Washington. First of all, you don’t say “fence.” The term at DHS is “Permanent Tactical Infrastructure.”
So, here it is 1 ½ years after Bush left office and we are just now finishing it up. And what did we buy, according to the DHS Annual Performance Report FY2008-2010?
203.7 miles of “primary fence.”
79.5 miles of “all-weather roads.”
153.7 miles of “vehicle fence.”
64.7 miles of “lighting.”
At the end of FY2008, DHS was “committed” to their goal of 670 combined miles.
My point is, we don’t have what we think we have even after all the hoopla about the 700-mile fence.
McCain is not to be trusted. He's pro-amnesty.
John The Time to Be One of Us was when you ran for President. Your 2 years late and Trillions short.
AZ voters give myself and everyone here 5 good reasons why this progressive should be re-elected. WHAT has he truly done for this country outside of his military service? Tell us why this man, this career politician, this incumbent deserves another term?
Be warned the anger of this country will soon be directed towards those who put incumbents back in office. You better have some damn good reasons to put this proggie in again. Vote in anyone any new blood but this guy or the socialist alternative.
You are losing your freedoms America while you still sit idly by, when will it be enough? Come out of your shell, cross the line within yourself and TAKE BACK AMERICA through http://www.savingtherepublic.com
We don't need to make legal immigration more accessible, we need to stop it altogether.
Wow. That really stunk to high heaven. And is more than a little hypocritical coming from a guy who basically supported open borders until a few weeks ago.
what, we have term limits its called democracy, what if there was a politician who came along like Reagan and who was doing a great job for America, so we the People cant have such a politician continue in office because of some limit they can serve, horse hockey
At a loss for words.
John, the U.K.'s Brown just resigned and left the door wide open for conservative Cameron.
John, do the same for Arizona and America.
John McCain is the epitomy of a patriot, but his time has passed. J.D. Hayworth is a real conservative and will help to bring our government back under control of we the people.
McSame ol flip flop, these guys have to go. How many years has he been a part of the problem?
I will never forgive him for his theatrics that gave Obam the election!
The goal of ending the drug war would be three-fold.
1) It would de-fund the gangs which are the primary source of violence in the streets of almost every American city
2) It would de-fund the drug trafficking routes which is a primary source of human smuggling/trafficking.
3) Both of the items above would put a major dent in the ability of Jihadis to move freely across our southern border.
Item #3 is the chief reason to address human smuggling (illegal immigration).
As for what drugs to make legal, I don't know the answer to that, but I am smart enough to know that the Drug War is killing far more people than it is saving, and it is now forcing a massive relocation of people across our border as innocent Mexicans try to escape the bloodshed.
So to recap – Ending the drug war = securing the border against criminals and jihadis.
The best thing he can do is step aside and back a real conservative who will listen to, and represent, the people.
I feel sorry for the guy talking to McCain. His 30 secs of fame and it has to be so lame.
It's ILLEGAL, dummy. You need to put bigger button eyes on your proof reading sock puppet.
And I might ask………….where has he been and where would he be today had Governor Brewer not taken the action she did. This would never have happened, so the phony John McCain needs prodding by a Senator and someone breathing down his neck for his senate seat before he will take action.
Pretty pathetic, and while I admire his service to our country, his inactions speak too loudly for him to think he should be sent back for another term. He is a large part of the problem in Washington DC…………….NO to RHINOS!!
It's time for McCain to be replaced with someone with true Conservative convictions. Give J.D Hayworth a shot, Arizona.
About 6 years…………..Specter is 80…………..and McCain is 74.
Both should have retired 25 years ago……………………
What a joke. His danged job is on the line for the first time and he thinks we're going to forget how he partnered with Kennedy & Feinstein in subverting the Constitution on immigration and free speech laws. If the danged "maverick" had shown half the faux populist concern for America that he displays on behalf of Arizona while he was running against the empty suit he'd be president right now. And America would be on a slower track to hell than it is now.
A conservative from Chicago??? will wonders never cease??? lol jk.
I just love it when McCain turns true Conservative when he's running for tough re-election but then turns back a RINO when he's not running. He's not the only RINO either. Hey John, have you seen what happened in Utah the other day???? Us Tea Party was kidding when we said that we've declared Open Season on RINOs.
You know, the border fence in Arizona would probably be complete by now if the contractors building it didn't get caught using illegal workers.
Immigration Reform: Making Tea-tards chase their tales endlessly.
For years we were told McLaim was helpless to call for border enforcement because he needed
the support of the Hispanic community.
After the polling data proved 70%of Arizonans were in favor of this legislation he was suddenly able
to fall in line.
What will happen to this once brave warrior when he fails to win reelection?
Why is he so desperate to hold this Senate seat?
Go away old man, you're done. You are the poster child for everything wrong in WDC. Time for you
to ride away into the sunset.
John McCain 2007 — "We don't need no Stinkin' Fence!"
John McCain 2010 — "Where's the Danged Fence?"
Oh he's "one of us"! I feel soooo much better now.
If we get rid of all the "illegals"………….who's going to unload all those beer trucks for your wifes distributorships?
I see JD Hayworth has been paying people to comment today. Marcus' words apply better to Hayworth than they do to McCain. After all, JD's only gone hard on immigration AFTER he was voted OUT of office. Its easy to bloviate when you don't have to vote anymore.
McLaim's wife has money!
I live in PA, I can vote against Arlen S. I can't unfortunately vote against the rest of the Senators that have to be gone after November, such as McCain. Still pains me that I had to vote for him as the lesser evil last Presidential election.
That really was quite amusing. Do you think John is in on the joke?
"You're one of us" That sounds horrible….
What form of government do we have? Do you really know? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DioQooFIcgE&fe
Restore the Republic
God Bless America
Step 1: Bust.
Step 2: Bus.
Step 3: Repeat.
and if Hayworth does not perform to expectations I believe Arizonans will know what to do.
We DO need to make legal immigration less of a bureaucratic nightmare- for skilled professionals from advanced nations, not unskilled laborers from the Third World.
Sorry, that's a low blow. McCain is an honorable and honest man whose sacrifices on behalf of his country are undeniable, who unfortunately is a 'moderate.'
Specter is an absolute weasel, a lying scumbag, a traitorous sleaze of the first magnitude.
No comparison.
If the people of Arizona had a backbone, they, too would vote him out like Utah did to Bennett. McCain was the worst candidate the Republican put up for President. Romney would have been the best choice, but RNC owed McCain a favor.
Wow, THAT was embarrassing–I've changed my mind, I'm from… Guam… yeah THAT'S it.
I remember 3 young Republicans who made a sign for the GOP Convention in 2008. Three words on a poster.
BUILD – THE – FENCE.
Security told them to take the signs down, on orders from the control room.
Strange, huh? Especially since the GOP Platform 2008 reads: "Border security is essential to national security. In an age of terrorism, drug cartels, and criminal gangs, allowing millions of unidentified persons to enter and remain in this country poses grave risks to the sovereignty of the United States and the security of its people."
Sorry McCain, if you can't think any faster than that, you have no business representing us in Washington. TWO YEARS is a loooong synapse.
Make sure you have a floatation device handy in case more Marines land.
This makes "Heck of a job, Brownie," seem like the Gettysburg Address.
"Even if every word were true, it would still reek of amateurishness."
You mean like the entire 2008 campaign?
Guam "Soon to be the 52nd State!"
You do look Gaummy, so you MUST be from there
I agree with the person who said John might be a good Republican if he had to run for office every year.
Cindy! Don't let John within a country mile of your business.
I will always regret he lost to GHWB. Ten years ago, I think he would have made a good president. Yes, he is a RINO on too many issues, but would he have been worse than Bush?
Any fired up candidate would have trashed BHO – media love fest or not. I still think he might have pulled it out if he had stood up to the TARP railroad and insisted on strict repayment – clear definition of purpose – and called out Barney Frank et. al. for creating the mess. Even if he could not have stopped it, he would have staked out position that could have won him the presidency. He's just past it now.
Not that I'd say it to his face. He might kick my butt, war wounds and all. Adios John.
After hundreds of thousands of illegals left Arizona the crime rate dropped 30%. What's to not understand about that?
John is the prime example of the corrupt politicians that infest our nations Capital. He is a day late and a dollar short on his protect the border stance. He failed the American citizens and lost the respect his military service had afforded him, and in the process damaged the Republican Party. And if the Party leadership see's him as their future they lose the conservative's and their financial support. He now is talking the talk but cannot be trusted to walk the walk. I cannot see myself ever voting for a Socialist ever, and the same applies for RINO's but the Republican Parties Big Tent is a ship full of holes, and I will not poor my shrinking dollar into a sinking boat.
Help us all.
I would echo Founding Blogger and add to it that: the Drug War is a federal policy with federal funding. Ending it would close the federal money spigot. It would end many enforcement efforts at the federal level and it would trickle down into localities that receive money to perform Drug War programs.
It is a good idea because the Drug War is an abject failure. It doesn't stop or even slow the flow of drugs, so it doesn't accomplish its goals. As such, all the money spent on the Drug War is basically wasted because it comes nowhere near achieving its purpose.
You voted for McCain!
Term limits were imposed on the presidency after FDR, and I believe for a good reason. There are downsides if you do get truly effective politicians subject to the rule, however, it has some effect in minimizing the tyranny of any 1 office. Remember, FDR tried to expand the number of supreme court justices so he could personally load the court with his picks.
The tag line should have been:
I'm Juan McShamnesty and I'm pandering for votes to save my sagging poll numbers….
What is it with these polititians? Why can't they just give it up? Now Mr. Amnesty is shilly for a border fence just to get 6 more years in the Senate? Why? So he can be carried out on a plank like Kennedy? If Kennedy quit when he was diagnosed with cancer, his replacement would not doubt have been a reliable liberal. Instead he hangs on till death and Massachusetts elects its first Republican Senator since 1967. Not that I am complaining, but his committment to his ideals, his party, and his constituents were obviously eclipsed by his monumental egotism and sense of entitlement to power. Representatives of a free people?
I'll give you that McCain still has some honor, solely because of his service to this country. He is not an honest man anymore. Even his honor is shredded by his own foolish political ambitions.
Arlen is a turd, but you go too far. But thats not surprising.
You have to defend McCain. You voted for him!
"I would like to know what the poster means by " making legal immigration more accessible ""
Usually when people say this it means: "Pass out greencards so freely that there is no need to come here illegally." So, we get the same tide of poor, unskilled, welfare-dependent immigrants, only now they have the proper paperwork. This makes about as much sense as paying criminals not to rob people. The short-sightedness of this mindset is unbelievable.
"what's the difference between McCain and Arlen Spectre? "
One has an (R) in front of his name and one has a (D) in front of his name.
And you voted for him!
I wonder who the bigger lame-o is, the lame or the lamer that voted for him. Ha!
Senator McCain: Thank you for your service to our country.
I am not surprised that an ad like this came from the McCain camp. Again proving and always he is a RINO. He treated his campaign with Obama for the POTUS like he and Obama were rival captains on softball teams at the company picnic and they put in the slaughter rule to make sure no one would feel bad. Than Obama slaughtered him. And now we have Obama and we are battling to not become another European socialist country full of high taxes and entitlements for everyone.
Please sir all due respect you have done enough damage. Back out and let's get the ball rolling again.
Thanks.
Thats an awesome video.
McCain in 2012! It will work this time.
What does this have to do with the original post? Are you saying that if all of these criminal illegals were given the proper paperwork, they would stop being criminals and become upstanding citizens? Illegal immigration isn't a paperwork problem, it is a people problem. By streamlining legal immigration, you're just bringing in the same crowd, except now they will have legal status. Increased legal immigration is not going to solve anything. It will just make it even harder for unemployed Americans to find jobs.
This idea makes far too much sense to ever be adopted by our government.
McCain likes to talk about how he can walk across the aisle and get things done.
He should walk across the border; he would get a close up look at the limitations of bipartisanship.
What's 'ILLEGAL'?
Only a Communist Utopian would suggest that there is always a "good" choice. I voted for the lesser of two evils because it was the right thing to do under the circumstances. I am not ashamed of the decision. Faced with the same choice I would gladly make the same decision. Senility is less destructive than Communism.
I'm glad to see you're still yucking it up. I'm happy for you. I know your time of sorrows is fast approaching and , unlike Commies like you, I will not begrudge you your fleeting moment of "happiness". It's going to be a long winter for you, Comrade!
What an absolute unmittigated pile of steaming C**P. Has McCain forgotten that his name was attached to the last immigration (pronounced AMNESTY) bill. Senator McCain, the American people have not fogotten what you and Edward Kennedy attempted to do.
Secure our borders and deport those who are here illegally. Anything less is just a waste of time.
What's your point? Are you saying that McCain is better on the issue? I am not an Arizonian, but as long as I have known of Hayworth he has been solid on this issue.
Progressive tool. This guy has been a fake and fraud for decades.
Time to get out of dang office. Hope JD sends him packing.
That is the entire problem; the thinking that simple problems are "Complex" and require great study by learned academics or pols.
This issue could not be simpler. This is America. You wanna come here, do it legally or expect to get sent packing. Just because you're muslim or mexican doesn't mean you get to come here and change it to your liking.
oh he acts like he now listens to the people and understands, but as soon as he goes back to Washington he will take his hearing aids out again. I think Bennett getting tossed scared him a little. It scared Hatch, he sent out emails today highlighting everything he has "done" for us. NO compassion for career politicians!
how much did the sheriff sell out for?
I remember when Limbaugh was doing a bit back in 2001. He said that McCain was threatening to switch parties–he was thinking of becoming a Republican. LOL!
