Founding Bloggers Confirms Huffington Post’s Completely Worthless Observation
by Andrew MarcusFounding Bloggers can confirm that we too captured an image of the writing on Governor Palin’s hand which was breathlessly reported on Huffington Post. The notes appear to be very innocuous.
On the other hand, the outrage on the left is being completely misunderstood by the right. Democrats don’t mind that she needed a few notes for her speech. They’re upset that Sarah used her hand, proving once again that she is an unsophisticated hick. Everybody knows that whether you are talking in a sixth grade classroom, or talking dirty to the First Lady, using anything other than a presidential-level teleprompter is simply pedestrian.
Note to the left: You can read the writing on the hand, or the writing on the wall. Take your pick.

You know, writing yourself a note on your hand is as old as ball point pens… If your goal is to "read into" what other people do, then the ability to read what you want and arrive at any conclusion you want is both unlimited and …. worthless. ____As one who has done a small amount of public speaking, I can easily relate… It's easy for the mind to wander, and notes that simplistic are more than adequate to make sure you say what you intend to say.
I think another argument is that she criticizes Obama for using a teleprompter, but she needs help as well

Actually, I just watched her interview with Chris Wallace which I believe occurred BEFORE this speech. She looked at her hand once while he was asking her questions. Ten bucks said she wrote it for his interview and not the speech.
The facts are:
Using a teleprompter the way Obama does is specifically designed to MAKE IT APPEAR you are talking extemporaneously, while reading everything WORD FOR WORD.
Using notes the way Palin does specifically ENSURES people can SEE YOU ARE READING FROM NOTES, while also giving you the freedom to TRULY speak extemporaneously most of the time.

Hey Mark, I speak to audiences in the hundreds and I always have a written outline to help keep me on track. Frankly, I'm impressed that Sarah had so few notes that she could fit them onto her hand.
BTW, tell us how you do it when you speak to large audiences. We're all dying to know how a master does it without "help."

You know, sometimes you just need a key word to remember a brilliant idea. I don't know how many of my notebooks are filled with one or two words in the margins tied into whatever the prof was saying. Maybe the stuff was major and core to the class, but those keywords made remembering my own views so much easier.

An interesting point. At my gym they only have CNN on. So I watched Sarah on CNN. They almost completely blocked out the applause. I was thinking she wasn't getting a good response. Then this morning I watched it on cspan and I heard all the applause and saw the intermittent standing O's. What a cheap shot.
I felt the speech could have had more energy. She still seems to be holding back. I think she should mention, in a joking way, about not using teleprompters and as an idea that she thinks our schools should make teaching the constitution required study, as a new idea.

I took on the distasteful task of clicking the link to HuffPo and reading some of the comments. The kids are out in full force. At this moment the counts are 179 diggs, 4701 comments posted and 19 pending. I thought to myself "why is this site so heavily moderated that 19 posts have to be read before being posted?" Then I read some of their drivel. I can't imagine which posts get turned down because the ones that made it are pretty foul. It also appears that the majority of posters have the literacy level and I.Q. of the average fifth grader from when I was in school 30 years ago. No wonder Hussein got elected. With the younger generation as it is the future doesn't look to bright.

Back in 9th grade, my English teacher had "Extemporaneoud Tuesdays." On Tuesdays, he'd put a topic on the board and the students would have 10 minutes to come up with a 5 minute speech on the subject. Af ew students would be selected to give their speeches to the class–the only notes allowed were 10 words. I think people would expect her not to have any notes at all when she is charging $100,000.00 to speak at this event. At that price she could have memorized everything.
I said this before, I do like Sarah Palin, but I fear that she is unelectable! While women will vote for a black "male" politician, they don't seem too keen on voting for women in this country. Who knows, maybe they are trying to tell America something?

ha… you conservatives can never take criticism. Let's be real here and take it for what it is. She used notes, no big deal, but don't bash Obama for same thing. They all do it. Oh, did Obama use it when he held the Q and A with Republicans? He certainly seemed to do fine then in an open unscripted platform.
