Haiti’s Earthquake Exposes More Than Poor Building Codes
by Andrew MarcusWhile the earthquake death toll in Haiti will likely be very high, in part because of lax building codes and underfunded infrastructure, the disaster has had the peculiar effect of drawing out the immoral moralist preachers (and their apologists) on both sides of America’s spectrum:

Pat Robertson makes an ass out of himself.
Danny Glover channels Pat Robertson.
Their cheap opportunism raises a few questions:
What percentage of Conservatives do you think agree with Pat Robertson?
What percentage of Progressives do you think agree with Danny Glover?
What percentage of this country do you think rejects BOTH the moralists of the right, in this case Pat Robertson, and the moralists of the left, in this case Danny Glover?

Whether it is the moral preaching of Pat’s particular religious sect, or the moral preaching of Glover’s progressive environmental religion, there are a lot people out there who reject both groups.
It would be interesting to know what percentage of the Tea Parties falls into that category.
As for apologists on the right, some argue Pat was simply expressing his personal belief, which was combined with generous fund raising for the victims. Therefore, on balance, what Robertson said wasn’t all that bad.
It’s great that Pat was raising money for the victims of Haiti while implying that they deserved their fate, but that doesn’t negate the fact that it’s disgusting and immoral to blame the victim of a natural disaster, based on their religious preference.
As for apologists on the left, they are simply claiming Glover never said that the earthquake was caused by global warming. Unfortunately for these deniers, that is exactly what Glover said, almost word for word. It is equally disgusting and immoral to push a lie to score political points on the backs of victims who are already shouldering the weight of tons of rubble.
In a better world, these opportunists and their apologists would all be placed on a single boat and set to sea, forbidden to ever dock in any port.
In a perfect world, we wouldn’t have earthquakes.
Too bad we don’t live in either of these worlds, so we’ll just have to settle for outing these people whenever they raise their ugly heads.

I really doubt if there are many on either side that believe that
type of rhetoric…Those people just made fools of themselves!
I would hope that anyone with "morals" would reject both. However, progressives lack morals.
I don't subscribe to either theory…it's as ridiculous to imply or infer that either "gentleman" speaks for the majority on either side.
I'm going to guess at least an order of magnitude difference, with the-sky-is-falling enviro-maniacs being the larger portion.
Yes, Robertson made an ass out of himself. Regarding Glover, no need to belabor the obvious.
Another interesting question would be what percentage of conservatives opened their own wallets to send relief funds for Haiti, and what percentage of "progressives" did likewise. (Pledging other people's money doesn't count)
Personally I'm waiting to hear the obama is donating his peace prize money to Haiti relief. Or perhaps he's already promised that money to hamas.
Is this disaster a preview of what's to come in 2012? Learn about 2012 here:

I agree with the prior comments.
But I'll go ahead and take a stab at thee the question.
Pat Robertson has quite a few followers who are likely conservative, so I'll say maybe 1%.
The Gia worshipping Danny Glover followers who lost the referendum on their
Puhleeze…..why do you think Jodie Evans and her freaks (Code Pink) were so chummy with Obarfa at our hijacked white house. Hamas is their pet project. God, that place will need cleaning!!!!!
Let 'em hook up and see what they make. Probably just another Illiberal/Regressive.
I was quick to condemn both Robertson and Glover on the web and Blogs. I have not seen any comments defending either one and both are now relegated to the has beens.
I really like this tid bit I read on the Hill:
Kentucky Dem county chairman: 'Charles Manson could beat Barack Obama here right now'

LOL. No kidding.
I would LOVE to say that few agree with either of these two abominable creatures, but after repeated offenses they are still pied piping their ugly little tune with a stream of rats dancing behind them.
They are like every other creep (I will call out Al Sharpton here). Call them out and then shun them. Give them NO air time. Eventually they disappear.

All that is well and good because I have read a lot about the 2012 Apocalypse and the planets aligning with the sun and the Mayan calendar ending in 2012.
What we need is some semblance of "victory", not gloom and doom. We need to get get energized and motivated to save this country. I know about the Muslim Jihadists and their agenda, but they do not have the resources we have. We have "We the People". The "sky is not falling" (just yet)
On the bright side there are stories of people who are getting out there and making a difference. Who are brave when others creep away.
I love that George Clooney and his group are putting their star power to work to raise funds. They see the need and desperation and they step up! YAH!
Then there is CNN's Sanjay Gupta who was reporting at a makeshift hospital in Port au Prince only to find himself part of the story. The Belgians and the Canadians bugged out when they got word that there were rioters nearby. Sanjay stayed with those poor, fragile patients caring for them overnight until the Belgians recovered their shame and returned.
The thing that completely floored me in the article about Gupta ( http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/01/16/hait... ) is the last line which is a quote from Honore (the retired Army Lt. Gen that worked Katrina) where he comes to this conclusion: ""I find this astonishing these doctors left," he said. "People are scared of the poor." The only way my eyes would roll back into my head more is if he said they were afraid of blacks. People do not go to Haiti if they are afraid of the poor. Period. They should not leave if there are mere riots, but I can see making that decision and do not know what they knew the situation to be. Desperate people with machetes? I might go.
I cannot say enough how awesome Sanjay Gupta is. Honore is a turd.
I know more about Christianity than I do about the religion of environmental hysteria. What blows me away is that Robertson's comment isn't even Christian. Someone needs to give this man a New Testament:
"…that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous." ~MT 5:45
What Robertson refered to was basically karma, which is not a Christian principle.
How can you not love both these guys? If not for Harry Reid, they would be tied for the funniest person on the planet, thinking men for dolts.
Lazy Jack
I am appalled that someone could call himself a 'Man of God' and still have ANY followers after spewing such hate! Danny Glover, on the other hand, is just another Hollywood nut job like Sean Penn and the like..no one really pays attention to the rhetoric he he slings around!
Andrew, When the time comes for you to question your own morals and where they are on your sliding scale, then you will be permitted to question the morals of others and there beliefs.
When morals are a constant and when they are the same as the founders of this Great nation, then and only then, "We The People" will be able to get our Country back.
Worrying about anything doesn't change it, only changing it does.
Ever heard of sowing and reaping? Not to say that Robertson is exactly right here, but no one knows for certain why this happened. There is certainly biblical precdent for weather being a destructive force to judge sin. There is no need to be dogmatic and insist that Pat is completely wrong. You don't know, and I certainly don't know why this happened. Haiti is Voodoo Central. Everybody knows that. I know missionaries who have lived in Haiti and they completely agree with Pat Robertson. He didn't even say, "God has judged Haiti". He doesn't have to. When you or I open the door to sin, we give satan the keys to our lives. Period.
"What percentage of Conservatives do you think agree with Pat Robertson?" 10-15%
"What percentage of Progressives do you think agree with Danny Glover?" 50-55%
Who's getting the most press coverage by the liberal media 100% Pat Robertson
Clooney and Gupta are fools, but at least their making themselves useful. Honore is a military man, of course it's surprising to him to see people moving away from the problem. Honore is a good guy though, he just forgot those weren't soldiers.
You missed mentioning the Tiger Woods new foundation, it could be called Road to Redemption.
Pat Roberston is senile.
WTF? Can you put this into plain English please? What is being questioned is the assinine comments of a couple of moralizers…moral busy-bodies, who think they can translate a random natural disaster into a case for their world-view. Anyone with a reasonable mind cannot pity these poor souls and at the same time react to Robertson and Glover as a pair of opportunistic jackasses.
Sometimes it is best to not open mouth….
Massachusetts Miracle
This crap is on you, evangelical Christians! You gave this douche Robertson the room to be the asshole he is. And now you have to deal with his irrationality. Own it!!!! Explain in your superstitious, mythology how what he is saying is wrong. You can't because if you read the texts of your bronze-age screed, you will realize that he has a case. Your god is a spiteful, small minded reflection of the worst impulses of mankind. Further proof that it's all just a bunch of hoo-ha.
Your right, there's that old saying,
open mouth, insert foot…I think that
is exactly what Robertson & Glover
did…..
I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but that took the cake.
Not a huge Clooney fan, but in this case – he is doing more than being useful. Gupta – I do not know of him well enough to say. From what little I have seen he seems like a reasonable fellow. I do not hold people with liberal leanings at arm's length until they say or do something that outs them as complete jerks.
I agree with Wanda we need to stop giving air time to these nut jobs.
Forget about the extreme opportunist fringes. Either help or get the hell out of the way.
By the way, instead of talking about such nonsense, we should be talking about a great American, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, putting his life on the line to help the poor. Now there's someone to be proud of.
It is not possible to show the deep love God has for me. The devil has made those who want to believe God is out to get us and sadly many church's preach that too. My God is a God of LOVE! Proof for me is in my life! Each person has to accept that love for themselves. It doesn't come in a "one size fits all"! Sadly some will reject it.
Consider. Robertson made more sense then Glover. Why? Glover invoked wrath of an angry planet, pissed that big taxes weren't approved in Copenhagan. Huh? But it wasn't the earthquake that killed people in Haiti, it was the poor construction of the buildiings that crushed them. China's earthquake resulted in one region a generation to die – mostly children, because … not the quake, but their gov't- crap-built schools collapsed on top of them, while most everything else stayed up. A failure of the PEOPLE'S responsibilities.
Actions have consequences. Haiti could have used its resources better, but that's more money & effort, so it wasn't valued, & no one perceived any danger, so cheap built trumped quality. The government has always been kleptocracy, money constantly being skimmed off for personal gain. The city collapse is very dramatic, but there's subtle collapse elsewhere – like crap education for children, hospitals that could have been built but weren't, and sure could be used now. Robertson has got a relief fund going to deliver help, so consider his words with his actions. See any real help from Glover or just complaints?
Its a horrible event that happend for the people in Haiti. But why should we help them. We get crap from every country in the world if we do anything good or bad so why should we lift a finger to help.
Because more people appreciate it than the media reports.
The truth of the matter is, the majority of places we send money to never benefits those who are actually starving or homeless. The money lines the pockets of the corrupt leaders.
And Haiti ranks among the top five most corrupt nations in the world, if I'm not mistaken.
Do you know what? I am soooooo sick and tired of idiots like you people attacking idiots like Pat Roberson for every little thing he says. I rolled my eyes when I heard his statement too, but everyone from you guyes to Mike Huckabee – everyone on the left and everyone on the right has to make some big fat deal out of it. In the first place, as far as I know, we still have freedom of thought in this country, unless Obummer and Co. have their way.
Secondly, did you know that Haiti is in the top ten of corrupt governments in the world? Did you know they have a gang over there that cannibalizes their victims? They practice voodoo and have witch doctors. Their people go hungry because of the corruption in the government and they wouldn't survive except for foreign aid, which apparently provides NOTHING for the citizens who need it and is just used to fund the fat cats in the power. Do I think God is judging them? I am not one to speak for God. However, if ever there were a nation that I would judge if I were God, Haiti would be pretty high on the list. You can sit up on your self-righteous thrones throwing sticks at Pat Roberson if you want to. However, none of you – not one of you – could carry his jock strap for all of the good Pat Roberson's Operation Blessing has done for victims of natural disasters, both here and abroad. Get your heads out of your stupid butts and send YOUR money to a reputable emegency relief agency and stop bitching about Pat Roberson.
Danny and Pat both have a habit of blurting out bizarre things at the worst times. Makes you wonder if they both use the same prescription medication.
http://www.ob.org/disasterrelief/?gclid=CM3B2N36r...
Yawn…more hand waving, blue smoke and mirrors. Wish-thinking is for children. Your god is the idea you mommy and daddy planted in your head…nothing more.
I'm not sure why so many people are getting so worked up over the comments…… I disagree with them, of course, and think the statements were ridiculous. You've got to love free speech, it shows everyone for who they are! Let all of the idiots come right out and be up front and we can all ignore them going forward if we don't agree. Even morons have a right to free speech whether or not we agree with it. I pick and choose who is relevant, and these 2 aren't on my list of being either smart or relevant. That's my take!
I agree we can not worry about the end of times. We need to focus on living today the best we can to make a better tomorrow. How many people have predicted the end and that end date has come and gone? Jesus told us that know one but God the Father knows when that day will come for his return. I take that to mean that no one on Earth is going to be able to predict the end, only God knows. Whether we face that end tomorrow, or next year, or not during our time here on Earth it should not change how we live our lives.
Boy talk about being small minded and hateful. Please calling out all Christians for Pat Robertson is like calling all African Americans racists because of Al Sharpton's race baiting. It is clear you are an angry atheist, so I guess I can say all atheist'sare angry and illogical because of your hateful little rant.
A Christian theologian positing the idea that Haiti’s never ending problems (not just the earthquake) has something to do with long dead people choosing to put trust in Satan instead of G-d, and then he in the very next sentence follows up with a compassionate statement of prayer, offers of help, and hoping some good may yet come for Haiti – that is offensive? He never said the people living there now made this pact, he never said nor implied that the people living in Haiti deserve the problems they have. This story is popular with Christian bashers. Picking on an old man who professes his belief and harms no one, in fact helps more than most makes you feel what? Intellectually superior? Your ignorant bullies. Haitians have a self induced curse, they for some reason, can't create a cohesive, even mildly prosperous society. Perhaps because their foundation, their faiths, history, traditions, what they teach their children started off wrong.
I've heard the story about Haiti making a pack with the devil for years (along with their obsession with Voo Doo.)
Now really, would you expect things to go well if you did the same?
Ray Nagan was doing a VooDoo dance with the locals in New Orleans shortly after Katrina.
Now tell me what is crazy?
Regarding AMerican aid apparently not being appreciated by other countries, would it help to hear that at the funeral of Joseph Garang who united the Southern Sudanese to successfully fight to force the Northern Sudanese to a ceasefire and then a peace agreement that allowed the Southerners autonomy after a horrific civil war that cost the Southerners two milllion dead and four million displaced, that the new Government of Southern Sudan announced to the entire world their thanks to President Bush and the American People for all the support for freedom and self-determination for Southern Sudan. President Bush's re-election was declared a national holiday by the Southern Sudanese.
Didn't hear about it? Heads of State from all over Africa were there, General Colin Powell represented the USA, European high rankigng dignitaries attended to pay their respects to Garang. The stinkin' MEDIA did not want Americans to HEAR that, so they didn't REPORT IT.
On second thought, a great many Americans may have made a pack with the devil November, 2008 at the polls.
Notice how well things are going here.
Didn't the Mayans just run out of rock to scribe on?
1984

2012
Somebody please make up their mind!
Look into the eyes of the Children wandering around the streets of Haiti and tell them that statment. I am a Conservative. But I am a Human First!
Roughly there 140 million of us here in America that actually pay Income tax. If we spend 420 million on Haitian relief that equates to :
1 gallon of gas
1 1/2 cups of starbucks
1 Domestic brew at happy hour (1 1/2 if your lucky)
1/3 of a pack of smokes in NYC
3 losing lottery tickets
2 packs of gum
Gupta was embedded during the start of the war in Iraq. he is a neurosurgeon and helped out there as well. his skill were highly valued in that situation.
As to the others.. I can't say. if indeed canuck dr.s quit and ran… I am ashamed of them.
Putting his life on the line huh?
He's putting his "Face on the camera"
He bragged about treating ONE person. He's multi-talented, but he's also determined to be be seen internationally as a "HERO". Treat a 2nd or 3rd victim and he'll be on his way.
I think Pat is being accurate to his faith. God punishes people with natural disasters. It's in the Bible. And we have the freedom in this country to express religious views like that. So he's actually doing nothing wrong.
I personally disagree with Robertson and Glover… and I don't think either of them are really worthy of serious concern.
The real issue here is how the liberal media treats conservatives. They'll take someone like Robertson and say that all of us agree with him. Obviously that isn't true. So it puts us in the messed up position of a) having to defend someone's right to express beliefs that actually hurt our cause and b) by defending his right to say what he says, further the myth that all people on the right are fundamentalist christians who think God punishes evil people through natural disasters.
That's America though. And with the media, it really doesn't matter… everything the right does is going to be considered evil and dastardly. Best thing we can do is just accept it and not be thrown off by it.
I haven't donated because the money won't go where it's supposed to go and it's been like that for years. We're sending billions of dollars since 1993 and it still looks like a hell hole down there. And speaking of Roberson and Glover. I don't like neither one of them.
The way these two have spoken, there is NOTHING gentlemanly about either one!!
Pat Robertson has done more to help the poor here and around the world with his ministry 'Operation Blessing' than any of those big mouths on the right and left combined have ever intended to do – less having been able to do !!! The media typically distorts and, of course, ridicules Pat and hardly mentions the 'good guy' , Danny Glover, and his brilliant remarks of Copenhagen failure ……
Wow! You compound Robertson's assinine superstitous belief with your own half-assed mysticism. Great. We're all f'd if people like you continue to breed. Please do us a favor and go jump in a lake and drown yourself. Those of us who realize we have one life to live and treat that as a precious gift do not need to have the like of you screwing up our chances for happiness.
FSM, you try to come from a high moral ground but in the same breath you tell someone to drown themselves. Please, spare us the inconsistencies.
Big yawn! I watched the Robertson video and didn't hear anything that implied Haitians "deserved" their fate. As for Glover, I didn't hear what he said and I don't give a rat's ass.
As for donations, I gave via tax dollars since our government decided to throw $100 million dollars of our tax money towards another corrupt government.
Why don't you solicit China for more money or ask the oil-rich Arab nations to pitch in. Now THAT would be a blog of interest – who gave and who didn't and how much?
A blog about 2 people expressing their opinions (no matter how far out there they may be) serves no purpose other than to bitch about two people who you apparently don't like.
Why is it, that people assume standards of integrity without knowing where the standard comes from?
You seem to think the question is about these two men, when it really is about you and your neighbor.
Andrew has posed this query to get a battle of strengths and weaknesses without any right answer.
Continue to think all conservatives are one- size- fit- all religious yahoo's. It makes it easier for you not to question your own liberal ideologies. Typical lazy thinking liberal.
I happen to be an atheist. I've never had problems with conservatives judging me, ever. But the minute I mention that I mention to a liberal that I believe in free markets, small government, maximum liberties, I am called stupid, racist, etc…
Liberals are the most judgmental, non diverse, elitists on the planet.
Congratulations FSM.
Dear Andrew, are you suggesting that there is no such thing as cause and effect? In the Christian philosophy blessings and curses are spoken of from the beginning to the end. Cities and nations were judged often. A nation that is almost completely subsidized and produces nothing begs for some kind of critique. If it's true that Haiti has made a pact with the devil and we all ignore it, then we are supporting the suffering of these people. We will never be able to help with Christian love. All we have is liberal love, which on the surface shows well for the media. Are we so politically correct that we can't help our fellow man out of darkness. The only thing wrong with Pat Robertson’s comment was the timing. If there is going to be long term and meaningful help for the Haitian people their spiritual condition has got to be addressed.
Robertson is in the religion business and therefore views everything through that prism. From time to time he puts his foot in his mouth and everyone on the left goes ballistic. In reality, he exercises no real power in politics these days so it goes down, at least to me, in the category of "he's harmless".
Glover on the other hand, is equally irrelevant. I'm sure he is well thought of in pro-communist circles, but his love affairs with despotic dictators doesn't resonate with any but the radical leftists. I didn't even know he was an adherent to the green religion. I think he's just trying to fill the void left by Harry Belafonte.
Folks, would you hold a schizophrenic's hallucinations against him? These people are not to be listened to or even thought about unless you want to share their pitiful view of the world. Those that follow these mental defectives get what they deserve – empty words from empty minds. Let them rot in their own ignorance rather than debating the merits of their crippled viewpoints.
All Danny Glover wants is more petro$$$$ gifts from Hugo Chavez to make bogus "revolution" doctrine films. The problem is that in spite of various trips to Venezuela to get some , Danny has not yet actually made any film or even a cheap documentary…but he keeps requesting more "advances". If Glover really likes that systme so well he should move Venezuela and stop enjoying capitalism here in the "Empire". Liberals are all hipocrites and Glover is just one more of our pathetic "caviar' left.
If Pat Robertson truly followed the Bible he would not be judginig anyone. That is God's job (according to the bible)
If you listened carefully to what Robertson said… he said that since they made that "deal with the devil", they have "suffered" under every woe imaginable. I am not condoning what he said and I changed to work to more accurately reflect what he said. He did not say that God cursed them but only that they were on the bad side of a whole lot of bad sowing and reaping. he was speaking from a Christian perspective if not a charitable one.
he has a bad habit of saying stuff that is better left unsaid.
If only internet trolls and haters like you would learn what self-control and tolerance means, the internet would be an easier place to chat with others. Why don't you do us all a favor and find a shrink who can prescribe some pills to take the edge off, hatah, you know…since you obviously have all the answers to life. I bet you wouldn't dare talk to people like this in person, you atheist troll.
Thanks for the link – I've added this to my reading list!
As a 25 year preacher, I can attest that sometimes we say things that we later realize was stupid, or at least a point poorly made.
Had he merely pointed out a historical event (I understand it did really occur) but not tried to say the earthquake was a direct result of it, it might not have been so bad. Clearly Haiti has been a nation adrift forever. But to lable the "pledge" as the cause would require a great deal more faith than I have. Pat Robertson lost his own compass many years ago, not by selling his soul for freedom from France, but by being just a little too interested in building an audience.
Actually, Jesus spoke on why people die in earthquakes or natural disasters: Read Luke 13:4
but Danny Glover doesn't have that excuse
Well yes he does. That's the requirement to be a liberal.
Stuff happens, and people comment on it, right or wrong.
That's the way it is.
Even U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has described the natural disasters that this nation has endured as “biblical” in nature. "It is biblical, the tragedy that continues to stalk Haiti and the Haitian people."
Why isn't she receiving the same kind of criticism and media attention as being an "immoral moralist?"
New high resolution pictures on the destruction from the 2010 Haiti Earthquake have been posted from on the ground in Port-Au-Prince and Jacmel

All the celebrities that act so brave in their studios do so behind the guns of a security entourage when they are abroad, so excuse me if I don’t care a whit what some sniveling celebrity dilettante says.
Snip "… Gupta — assisted by other CNN staffers, security personnel" note the security personnel statement, Gupta is grand standing, oh my what a hero! Tell you what, tell him to send the security away then we can talk about his personal bravery.
Having worked in regions where machetes and thuggish justice is in full force I can say with 100% certainly that the wielders are more than willing to use them, are quite skilled, and have no problem killing people for nothing more than a bottle of water.
Disdain for a group of doctors personal security in the field from your comfortable arm chair is disturbing but typical, calling someone else a coward while sipping your latte is hardy what I would call note worthy or inspiring though it seems to be typical these days. If you want to be taken seriously then head on over and enjoy yourself without the support of a security detail and report back, I think you would find it quite eye opening.
This disaster will be taken care as usual by the funding and support of the US and thats the point, I dont really care what a couple of clowns spew about the causes.
Some of the people will be thankful but most will just demand more and this region will continue to have these kinds of problems no matter how much money is poured down this sink hole.
It is regrettable but this area was and will be nothing but a disaster waiting to happen because of the culture of corruption in the region.
The fact that the UN peace keepers are going to be involved means that their wont be a safe under aged girl or boy for miles withing their reach, if any atrocities occur it will probably be while they watch, the UN is a sad joke.
I think Pat Robertson and Danny Glover should be put into a gunny sack somewhere together and used as a pinata. Pat Robertson has hurt the GOP at times with his yap and very badly. Danny Glover is a hater and a bigot. Both cause trouble and neither offer anything positive to the nations discourse.
Well thank you for your assessment of me –
But don't you contradict yourself? Gupta is a lesser hero (er evil) because he has security? You think anyone traveling around there administering aid or reporting on the quake doesn't?
Since you have worked in regions while machetes were being wielded then you know that in order to be effective you need protection.
And to clear things up – I am neither latte sipping (in fact I have never even had a latte), or sitting in a comfy arm chair… but I will take one if you need to know I am in one in order to make your point.
and finally…
"If you want to be taken seriously then head on over and enjoy yourself without the support of a security detail and report back, I think you would find it quite eye opening."
Well, if you had bothered to read my posts lately you might have had a better handle on my perspective (versus one you have created for me). I HAVE been to Haiti. Once after a hurricane and once when I was lucky enough to be invited to go as part of a medical mission (I am not a doctor, but I organize well). Even with that under my belt, I STILL do not pretend to fathom the depth of despair there right now.
A 92 rating? My.
The truth is; historically PR is correct and from the Christian perspective his duty is to point this out and request prayers for the suffering, which he did. Shows over folks.
After we take back Washington we need to take back our States, cities and towns, starting with HOLLYWOOD and the first thing we need to do is deport GLOVER,PENN,GARAFFALO,STREEP,CLOONEY,SHEEN,CRUISE,and all the other America hating a$$hats in HW.
Why do these scum bags wait until AMERICA and AMERICANS make them rich to let us know what they really think of AMERICA and AMERICANS. ? Who do these scum bags THINK made them rich in the first place,HUGO CHAVEZ ? That crater faced moron wouldn't have two nickles to rub together IF HE DIDN'T STEAL IT.
Continue to think all conservatives are one- size- fit- all religious yahoo's. It makes it easier for you not to question your own liberal ideologies. Typical lazy thinking liberal.

And the Bible says the reason for the Earthquake in Haiti was because of the Haitians made a deal with the Devil? Last count Haiti is 80% Christian. I am not the one forsaking a Nation based on what might have happened in the past. A country that began as a slave colony no less. I for one have no idea what God has planned for Haiti nor would I profess anyone else does.
You know maybe Pat is older enough to have actually been there and witness said pact. We know of this pact because the French told us? The same French who practiced scalping back in the early times of colonized North America………………………Hmmmmmmmm!
Don't really care as there are children who are walking aimlessly around Haiti in need of help. Babes are innocent in the eyes of the Lord!
The both have the SAME agenda, Obama and the Marxist— To DESTROY OUR ECONOMY!!
Neither are our friends, but I fear Marxism is far more dangerous to America then Islam!!!
Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not a Pat Robertson or even a Danny Glover supporter or follower, but It is plain to see when the "Two Witnesses" described in the Bible come to testify against the world's followers of the first messiah, Lucifer; as written in the Bible, the world will hate them and give each other presents when they finally are killed!!! Then, we will find the true "nature" of humanity without divine intervention!!! Don't think that things that happened in Haiti are not going to happen here, the nonsense of 2012 aside! America don't be too smug, all of humanity is doomed without divine intervention! If only America would do for Haiti as they did in Iraq; the world would be a better place!
There is nothing offensive or embarrassing here except to those who wish to find it. If reverend’s beliefs about Haitian history, then that is simply wrong, not offensive. He is not blaming God or the people suffering, he is calling it a pact with the devil and implying a generational curse exists, that’s all. By looking at the continuing suffering in that country, it’s a possible scenario, but no one has to agree with him.
The piling on Mr Robertson is what is embarrassing to me. I’d expect it from ABC, but it’s a shame coming from “friends.”
One, WE CHRISTIANS didn't give him anything he didn't already have, free speech. Two, HE will be responsible for his actions when his day of reckoning comes. Three, your right, GOD is spiteful to some but these are leasons to either be learned or ingnored bringing oneself the peril ignoring it brings. Not everyone that goes on t.v. and claims to be a christian preaching the word of God is right in what he says but they still have the right of free speech. I will pray for Robertson and you both!!
If you want to label some Dr's as morally deficient for looking out for themselves first that’s your business, I don’t hold it against them since their lives are their own to risk or potentially sacrifice as they see fit.
I cannot fathom why you think otherwise and buy into CNN's look at our hero puff piece non sense.
The point about Gupta HAVING and the other Dr's REQUESTING but not having security when confronted with concerns is perhaps a bit too subtle a point for you, I guarantee you Gupta's people had an exit strategy plannedthat did not include those other doctors.
The typical UN BS denials and SOP in refusing to cover these doctors should have been your first tip off if you had any relevant experience at all, the only time the UN won't show is when the savages are about or the UN is too busy raping girls (or boy) in some nearby local village.
As to my rating, I don't pay too much attention to it, not sure why you would care either way
I think one might pre-clude the actual earthquake under the heading of sowing and reaping and instead assign that to the level of infrastructure collapse.
Hannajo is right, Christianity does not assign this kind of event to divine retribution unless the divne comes right out and says it.
You are right about the money, it will be squandered, as soon as the troops leave the place will revert to what it has always been a corrupt cess pool run by gangs.
I do feel compassion for the average person living under these conditions, but it's hard to know who contributes to it and who just suffers under it, just throwing money at it is never the solution.
The food and aid I am all for, as long as it's managed by US troops, which is the only way it will ever get to anyone that needs it off camera.
Though I am not fond of Robertson I don't have to "Own" anything another person says, in the conservatarian world people take responsibility for themselves, in the leftist world you are all into group mind thinking so I understand the mistake.
As to your attempt at logic, well where to start, better just to say "Take your meds" and move on.
What I did was give an opinion. Remember, that is what we do here. I feel it was a valid one. You do not.
Yes. You are so right. I am a dullard. How dare I have a positive thought about someone who works at CNN. I MUST be batty.
So much anger towards me. Sad.
Why does the press (including the "conservative" press) make an ass of itself by giving Pat Robertson attention?
One more thing – and I do NOT want to belabor the point with you. I care about your BP – but NONE of the doctors or any aid groups that flew in to Haiti to help went out into the field without security. NONE. AND. Even they realized how cowardly and just plain wrong it was to leave defenseless patients – including little kids out there without proper medical care. You cannot, if you thought about it, remain in a crazed state over Gupta staying there to care for the patients and reporting the FACTS on the ground.
Now. Go in peace.
He's not judging them. He's just preaching the Bible as he views it, which is his job. Now, tell me why you and this blog are "judging" him?
That about covers it Sammy.
At least Fox ran stories on both of those loons (and got hammered for it only when they covered Glover – Apparently FOX should have been 24/7 Haiti).
Personally, I wish neither got covered. Then they might fade to black.
