“Unfortunately, America loves Guns. We love guns to a point where that uh we see devastation on a daily basis. You don’t blame a group.”
The Mayor is using a straw-man argument that conveniently provides him with an opportunity to politicize the terrorist attack as part and parcel with America’s love of guns.
Mayor Daley, and other politicians, like to blame gun violence on the guns themselves because that is so much easier than admitting any inconvenient (politically incorrect) truths which might be revealed if they were to place blame where it belongs.
Kids murdering each other in the inner city? That’s because of guns, not the War On Drugs which turns poor children into black market drug distributing gang members.
Islamists murdering people while shouting Allah Akbar? That’s because of guns, not the Jihad being perpetrated globally against all so called “infidels”.
They blame guns because guns don’t vote.
Taking Mayor Daley at face value for a moment, is he seriously arguing for increased gun control on a military base? If there had been more guns around, this ticking Jihad bomb could have been put down a lot faster than he was.
With no pogrom backlash after 9/11, no pogrom backlash after Bali, no pogrom backlash after Madrid, no pogrom backlash after London, no pogrom backlash after Mumbai, no backlash after countless other Jihad attacks, why would there be any reason to believe the reaction would be any different in this case? As we have written before, the West has already passed this particular civility test.

I was just about to post regarding the railroad tie beating in Chicago. This recorded beating went viral on the internet for the entire world to see. 2 weeks later Chicago was the first loser in the Olympic bid. Not that the (yet again) fatal beating was the reason, just saying. Mayor Daley is a punk who has had his position handed to him based on his punk dad's legacy. He fights any resident from owning a gun, prosecutes anyone who has one in the city (couple of years ago, a guy used a 22 rifle to kill two rots that were attacking a grandmother and her grandkid walking down his street and Daley made the cops go back and arrest the hero for having the gun). He's sued every gun store and range in Cook County and put almost all of them out of business. And yet, day after day, the news here is kids being killed with guns, kids being beaten to death, etc. I'm surprised the kids that was beaten a couple of weeks ago didn't cause Daley to blame the abundance of 2 by 4's as the reason the kid died.

I know the FBI and Army are still investigating what happened at Ft. Hood but the picture seems pretty clear that this was a Terrorist attack by one of our own soldiers. The other thing to make note of here is that this was yet another mass shooting spree in a GUN-FREE ZONE. Don't blame the guns, as they are inanimate objects. The blame lays squarely on the demented operators and horrible government policies that leave good citizens defenseless targets.
If sick twisted people can figure out that Gun-free zones are the safest places to hid, then why can't everyday normal people also clue in on this problem of bad policy?
