SEIU/ACORN Stage Protests Against Banking Industry Meeting In Chicago
by Andrew MarcusPresident Obama’s ACORN/SEIU bussed in 100s of union protesters from across the country to stage 2 days’ worth of media events outside of the 2009 American Bankers Association meeting in Chicago.

SEIU leaders Andy Stern and Thomas Balanoff (DSA member) joined with Jesse Jackson and others, demanding that members of the American Bankers Association stop using taxpayer bailout funds to lobby against Progressive banking “reforms.”
From the SEIU website:
Chicago, IL–In the largest taxpayer mobilization since the economic crisis began, thousands of Americans from 20 cities will converge on the American Bankers Association (ABA) conference in Chicago from October 25 to 27 to demand banks stop spending millions in taxpayer dollars to lobby against reforms that would protect Americans from the next economic crisis.
Below are some clips which have been posted to YouTube.
Something to keep in mind while watching these clips: SEIU is in debt to some of these very same bankers to the tune of more than $100 million, creating the appearance of a potential conflict of interests.

These protesters are being bussed in (carbon footprint??) from as far away as North Carolina, and are organized by the ACORN’s red shirt brigade.
Here is Andy Stern revving up the crowd before marching on the gathering of bankers.
Here the angry mob (at least by Pelosi standards) takes over the Wells Fargo lobby.
It’s odd to see the ACORN/SEIU Pitchfork Brigade protesting the very banks they at one time helped usher into the sub-prime market, with the help of Uncle Sam.
From a 2000 report published by Fannie Mae, highlighting successful case studies of banks and community groups reaching the sub-prime market:
As of 1998, the nation’s largest originator and second-largest servicer of residential mortgages. Vertically integrated mortgage subsidiary of Wells Fargo & Company
The nation’s top mortgage originator to minorities and LMI consumers. Offers integrated initiatives to reach underserved populations and neighborhoods.
Also from the same report, praise for ACORN and Wells Fargo subsidiary Norwest:
Nonprofit-facilitated instruction
(often with lender partnership)BofA partners in counseling with National Council of La Raza and other community groups. People’s refers home seekers to the counseling services offered by ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now)
Telecounseling
Potential borrowers can work with a counselor from the Norwest Mortgage HomeBuyers Club via telephone and mail contact. Countrywide’s HACC provides centralized homeownership counseling via a toll-free number.
Perhaps ACORN and SEIU just want a closer and more profitable relationship with Wells Fargo, but can you really blame Wells Fargo for wanting nothing to do with ACORN and their friends?
The larger issue here is that ACORN and SEIU, aided by the government, coerced banks into making risky loans by threatening bad PR in the form of embarrassing marches and campaigns accusing them of greed and racism. Now that the money has run out, ACORN and SEIU are protesting anyway, calling them greedy racists. You can’t win for losing!
The potential irony here is if ACORN is using government money to lobby on behalf of Progressive reforms by organizing these marches. What exactly would be the difference between that and what ACORN claims to be outraged about?
More video from this series of protests can be found here.

Andy Stern and Jessie Jackson. It would take a Full House to beat that Pair. I agree with Barrack Obama, a man is known by the company he keeps.
Doesn't Barrack keep company with them………….?
i loved the press on this, yesterday i saw a afp wire that said thousands protest, and i'll bet it was in the 100's like this report, and i talked to a union truck driver, who said only 40,000 people were at the dc 9/12 rally. he told me that was what was reported. so we are just annoying, no real issues with the gubment, but seiu, why they are real protesters. that is how the "media" want us to believe., i raise and add a al sharpron!

ACORN and SEIU are Liberal hypocrites. That's what the difference is. They feel justified in using tax money to protest things they don't like but nobody else is allowed to unless they are protesting the same thing they are.
once again, Chicago strikes…
All of the years we defended the Daly's for the city 'that worked'- what's a little corruption amongst friends, anyway?
After all we're just taking care of our neighbors, aren't we?
Well, that created the pervasive atmosphere of corruption that the Shadow Movements so crave. The whole U of I Cicle campus communist movement and the pool of 'noble poor' to infest with their radicalism- we all ignored that.
Much to our chagrin. Now, the rest of the Free World is infected with this particular strain of midwestern disease.
Sorry, folks…
And what corporate shakedown would not be complete without race hustler victim pimp Jesse Jackson. Plug "Jackson+corporations+shakedown" into Google and you come up with pages and pages of his Sopranos antics over the years.
Here's just one of his many audacious shakedown attempts, this one of British Petroleum:

Hey, corporate America, grow a spine and push back you fools. You have a duty to your shareholders.

I have an idea–let's not give any taxpayer money to ACORN or the SEIU! Novel idea, eh?
So was Andy Stern arrested for organizing a Riot?
Andy Stern, Al Sharpton….I meant to say Jesse Jackson, a wave of Purple Peter Eaters, finally followed by a outer coating of NBPP. Smells like a SHAKEDOWN to me!
I agree that something needs to be done to regulate bonuses because bonuses are rewards for good works accomplished. To date, NO industry have accomplished anything that justifies a bonus! On another note, Those being evicted out of their homes are due to the homeowner accepting loans they could not pay. So really the underlying concern are from individuals acting irresponsible. This all begin with Fannie and Freddie then totally ignored by the BUSH Administration and TAG Hussein is blessed with the problem.
So rally your people up Andy b/c your acting like a fool. Your strong arming a industry b/c your people acted irresponsible. You should be ashamed of yourself.
ENOUGH already! What is this the Lernaean Hydra (grows two heads every time we cut one).
Corporate America fight back, We the people are behind you. We need you to show up with some guts, Do what is right in the end you will do better.
People let support the corporations who stand up to these abuses and shun the ones who give to seiu and acorn.
Breitbart really needs to ACORN the SEIU. There's plenty out there to do it. SEUI is corrupt and needs to be fully exposed for their actions across the country. http://www.nuhw.org/latest-news/2009/2/5/more-tha... What strange times we live in.While I've got no use for bailed out banks.I've also got no use for SEIU or Acorn. So I guess this story has all bad guys in it.It's funny how these groups had to pay and or bus a few thousand of their finest from all around the country just to get someone to show up.While 2million tea party protesters showed up in Washington all on their own.It bodes well for 2010.
At least Barak and Michelle have their priororities straight.Don't work for private industry which made this country and it's economy the strongest in the world.Barak and Michelle Obama are absolutely right, don't work for private industry. Why work for the part of the country that produces jobs and wealth when you can work for the state.Because of the state and Wall St.over 17million un-employed.This czarist administration has done nothing but attack the vast majority of Americans since they took office.
Why arn’t they investigating SEIU? Why are union dues allowed to keep coming in without them being put into “escrow?” Why has our current president not spoken one word about his involvement with ACORN/SEIU? I would suspect many FEDERAL LAWS were broke and are continually being broke. We need to get these people formerly charged.
I agree. The government should not be handing out our tax dollars to "non-profit" organizations. If the government believes these programs are worthy enough to receive government (aka taxpayer) funding then by God the government needs to take the torch and run with it. If there is no oversight there is no accountability. If there is no accountability then there should be none of the taxpayers money going to it.
But let's be realistic. These non-profits of which we speak are nothing but front groups for the liberal political machine.
Did MSM report them as a "mob?"
YYYYAAAAAHHHHHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! One step further from the shite Bush years!!!!

Protest banks an make them lend money to people they know cant pay it back, then when it fails blame those same people. that is so sick.
Isn't it ironic how Fauxbama was once a trainer for ACORN, teaching the great unwashed how to conduct sit-ins (shakedowns) in front of banks and mortgage companies? That type of organized campaign, plus the cooking of the books at Fannie and Freddie, plus the run at the banks in Sept. of '08 (George Soros et al) is what brought the housing crash. Rinse. Repeat. Now Obumble can blame it all on Bush.
Speaking of Fannie and Freddie, why aren't Chris Dodd and Barney Frank being investigated since they were at the helm when the crash happened and had been for at least 2 years? Were they complicit, did they turn their backs and ignore it or are they really that incompetent? What about the jerk running Fannie (Franklin Raines?) who left with a $90 million bonus and is now running TARP? Why isn't The Won going after him to get the money back? Purely rhetorical. No need to answer.
The merchant banks, in conjunction with the Federal Reserve, and SEIU, ACORN, Obama &c. are all part of the same monopolistic plan. SEIU and ACORN footsoldiers don't get it…
"Oh look, ACORN v banks…well, then, the banks are our friends". NOT. It's just a game, an English pantomime, "look, behind you".
The issue has never been Marxism qua Marxism, National Socialism qua National Socialism, Fascism qua Fascism, Capitalist Imperialism qua Capitalist Imperialism (transnational Merchant Banking houses), but monopoly power over the means of production (human beings and their souls) and natural resources, by ANY MEANS NECESSARY, including the latest green (is red) routine.
The issue is not who benefits in any discrete circumstance, but always, how does that circumstance tend towards or indicate monopoly power. This incident is, in truth, a clever piece of manipulation to make you think two hands fighting over a gold coin do not proceed from the same magician.
The unions went into 2008 with money. Most now have not only spent a lot on campaigns last year, they borrowed to do so. If revenues fall and their expenses go up after layoffs, they will be cash short.
Today, these banks are in a bind. They carry debt or recievables from dirty unions and don't get auditited financial statements.
President Bush the younger did NOT "ignore" the problems of Fannie and Freddie! As far back as '03, President Bush demanded that Congress investigate and do something. The damned Dems, with Barney Frank et al led the way in halting anything being done. And that was not the only time this happened.
I suggest that you do some research on this, before posting.
Since you love this garbage, go live in Cuba. North Korea, or Venezuela.
Obama is THE worst president in the history of this nation and what he has done/not done, in the past 10 months, has done more to destroy this nation than any foreign terrorists/enemy, in its history.
George Soros keeps the parasitic Unions, ACORN, MediaMatyters, MoveOn, et al afloat.
You are correct about the non-profits being a front for the libs. It really bothers me that my hard-earned money is being given to organizations such as this. I don't believe that any programs are worthy enough to receive taxpayer money. We should be able to decide for ourselves which organizations we would like to support with our income and I most certainly would never pick ACORN.
Meh. I walked by the "protest" during my lunch break. 200-300 when I was there, tops. I've seen more people waiting in line to get into Water Tower Place. No way they had 2,000 like the Trib was saying. News reports said it stretched one entire city block. Well, if they walked in single file and stretched out the spacing a little, you could probably get it to about a block. But barely.
And keep in mind, the SEIU had been running ads on the local newsradio station (WBBM) announcing the protest. No idea how much they spent on the ad time, but it had to have been a lot since the ads came on during peak times and had been running for at least a week. Probably on other stations as well, but WBBM was the only radio station I heard it (a co-working told me that he heard the ads on some of the african-american stations as well). So the SEIU have been trying to push this protest for some time, and all of that for what was really a very paltry turn-out.
Hey who’s turn is it to take out the Garbage it look’s like someone is falling down on the job oh that’s right it’s the politition’s turn no wonder we still have ACORN/SEIU/ACLU/AFL-CIO/and the Teamster’s stinking up the country.
Sad thing about SEIU being out of money-they’ll just “screw” their members for more union dues. And, they’ll have no choice but to pay. Because whetther or not you belong to the union as a member-they require you to pay association fees(same amount as the union dues). Only difference is you don’t get to vote(whoopie dee do).
Well, thanks to Obama, the workers have nothing better to do than protest since their work all evaporated.
