Major ACORN Victory In New York Thanks In Part To Van Jones
by Andrew MarcusACORN’s New York operations are looking forward to a potential new flow of federal dollars, thanks to the New York State Senate and New York Governor Paterson.
Together they applied the Van Jones’ Apollo doctrine to tap into federal stimulus money allocated to New York.
Governor Paterson recently signed into law something called the “Green Jobs – Green New York Act of 2009″. The new law provides for the creation of a massive slush fund of federal stimulus dollars to be set aside for “green jobs”.
Those green jobs include but will not be limited to “Energy Auditors”, certified green contractors, green financing services to help pay for property upgrades, and more.
There are a number of places in the legislation where ACORN, SEIU, and their affiliates stand to gain access to this new green slush fund. Below is but one excerpt which must make them very happy:
How much money are we talking about? Hundreds of millions of dollars. From the legislation:
*Provides $112 million of capital funding from the Regional Greenhouse
Gas Initiative (RGGI), $70 million of which will be for a Green
Jobs-Green New York revolving loan fund designed to commit resources
fully during this phase with no less than 50 percent of capital monies
going to residential retrofits.*Provides $2-4 million of RGGI funds to be used to establish green job
training throughout the state to establish a green workforce for the
2151 century and requires the NYS Department of Labor to work with
NYSERDA to development additional training resources.
Don’t worry, because the legislation calls for an advisory board to monitor all of the projects and how the cash is being distributed. That shouldn’t pose much of a threat to ACORN’s access to the cash though, because, almost every sponsor of the legislation just signed into law are card carrying members of President Obama’s Working Families Party, aka ACORN.

Lawyers for Green Jobs was formed in 2008 by a group of young environmental attorneys who met while attending the New York City Environmental Law Leadership Institute (NYCELLI) and shared a strong passion for the economic implications of environmental and social issues. Their idea to propose green jobs legislation for New York State grew in part from their coursework in NYCELLI and in part due to the fact that there currently exists no such law. Since that time, L4GJ has been engaging national and New York-based green jobs advocacy organizations, such as Green For All, the New York Apollo Alliance, and several environmental justice groups, to foster a statewide policy for green jobs in New York.
Green For All was founded by Van Jones. Now we all know what green he was talking about. Yours and mine.

The more I learn, the more my head wants to explode.
It was predicted by Big Government, Beck, and others, that the funds to ACORN would magically reappear and the media would not follow the story. Depressing, but predicted.
Anyone who thinks that sleazy operation will just disappear, is dreaming. That might mean ACORN scuzzballs may have to get a job? Why work when you can pilfer.

I am pissed about our FEDERAL dollars being given to STATE concerns almost more than ACORN. Why the hell do I give one bit of rat crap about grren jobs in NY? As the story says, it will be a slush fund to pay off campaign contributors (i.e. ACORN) for all of their hard work fixing more elections for the Dems. This type of government waste makes me so angry. Only in liberal NY I guess.
Somebody needs to step up and be a leader and cut them off at the knees. Federal dollars to support and anti-American agency is beyond logic.

There is a bigger picture than ACORN, here. Van Jones, Cantor, Jones, et al have been waiting for the day that they could implement their social and justice agenda, and they're doing it through "green jobs." They see a windfall in federal and state funds going into the green energy markets, and they are standing there with their hands out so that they can grab as much as possible to spread the wealth and effect social justice through environmental justice programs. Their main objective is NOT environmentalism, it is social and economic justice. They are just using the green movement to facilitate that.
I see their plot thickens; increase unemployment then offer jobs to these unsuspecting people under the ploy of helping working families, then in turn they will be working for those who created the debacle in the first place.
These people are brilliant, corrupt to the core, but still brilliant. The question is do we have anyone capable of beating them at their own game, since exposing them is not enough, we must get down and dirty with our methods.

Van Jones gave Nancy Pelosi the idea for the original, national 2007 Green Jobs Act at a global warming roundtable that took place in Oakland, CA, in early 2007. He promised Pelosi that if she said 4 words, she would have a 20-year Democrat majority in the House. At the press conference following the event, Pelosi and Jones said the 4 words: "Clean Energy Jobs Bill." Jones testified before Congress in May 2007 in support of legislation that became the 2007 Green Jobs Act. The bill was introduced to Congress by Hilda Solis (D-CA), John Tierney (D-MA) and to the Senate by Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Hillary Clinton (D-NY). It was signed into law by George W. Why do I get the feeling non-unionized contractors will get frozen out of the work, which will wind up costing twice as much as otherwise?
Bad enough such work will not "pay for itself" (when individuals buy it) for 10 to 30 years, or at least it does if you don't have to redo it at least once. And that's without the "union premium."

You're correct. I recently saw an ad where the United Steelworkers Union was backing Cap and Trade.
I was told by an attorney familiar with the matter that they had been promised that green jobs would be

The tape makes three things obvious:
The ACORN employee lied when she said neither of them was dresses in an unusual fashion.
LIed when she said she immediately showed them the door
and lied when she said she was not told Hannah was a prostittute.
The tape has not been doctored. It has simply had the ACORN employees audio deleted. She could change that by giving them permission to play it.

So since the ACORN employee's audio was deleted, we don't know if she asked them to leave or not do we? Needing permission to play it is a cop-out especially if the "truth" is on their side, is it not? They didn't bother to get permission to play the Maryland tapes and that was a crime. They didn't get permission to play the California tapes and those were a crime as well so what difference does playing the Philly tape matter if the truth is on their side? They're going to get sued anyways so they have nothing to lose do they not?
When asked on numerous occasions "was any ACORN office you went to not complacent with your plan", Giles and O'Keefe responded "No". We now know that was a lie. The Philly office wasn't complacent and the police report proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt. Sorry, I'm believing the Philly PD over these two hacks feeding ACORN Derangement Syndrome to the 694 people who actually care. The L.A. office wasn't complacent and that tape is never going to see the light of day (gee, I wonder why). The San Bernadino office punk'd them with the murdered husband and according to the transcript posted on this website by O'Keefe, the ACORN employee on a few occasions stated "you know ACORN will never let you do this". Statements that were conveniently edited out of the video after Giles and O'Keefe lied and stated they never edited the videos and then posted proof that they DID edit the videos on this website. Duh! The San Diego office wasn't complacent as the National City PD confirmed that the ACORN office employee did contact the police about Giles and O'Keefe and the information was forwarded to a human trafficking task force. Needing ACORN's permission was never a factor in these cases where they lied and continue to lie to this day. If the lie is on their side and they broadcast the videos then having the truth on their side should be a no-brainer.

I actually live here in NY 23 and being a Democrat, rather enjoy the implosion of the GOP with this farce of a race. Thanks to the national attention, Hoffman has made significant gains while still being in 3rd place while undermining the 1st place candidate (Scozzafava) into now being in 2nd place and the Democrat candidate is now in 1st place and making greater gains in the polls and in campaign fund raising. I guess the Democrats can thank people like you for this? But us folk up here in upstate New York ain't a bunch of dumb hicks as you may imagine and care about important issues that effect our lives and here is how well Hoffman is scoring with these important issues:

The Governor's mansion in N.Y. would be a nice prize leading up to 2012. The Republicans also have an excellent shot in Pennsylvania next year and N.J. could go red this November. All three states went for Obama in 2008.

What you've omitted, is the fact that NY 23 is historically a safe GOP seat and that Hoffman, without any help from the RNC is pulling in more donations than the Dem and the GOP candidate. .

With all do respect sir, I would double check your numbers. Hoffman is clobbering the ever living heck out of Scozzafava in campaign fund raising but Owens has clobbered them both in fund raising and his contributions are locally contributed. Hoffman's contributions are not local from people who are supposed to be voting for him but from national contributions from people who's money is appreciated but votes aren't where he needs them.
The Dem was in 2nd place last week and has made the best gains in such a short period of time.
Dick Armey called our issues "parochial" and basically called us "parochial". These issues are important to us and are not "parochial". The St. Lawrence Seaway is a very important part of our commerce and a major stabilizer for our local economy and is not "parochial". I believe Mr Armey probably thinks we're a bunch of upstate, backwoods hicks up here who can be dazzled by Hoffman's "rock star" status but calling us and our issues "parochial" is an insult in defense of a candidate who can't be bothered to educate himself on issues he wants to be responsible for. We elect people here to represent "WE THE CONSTITUENTS" and not to represent a bunch of insecure tea-partiers who are afraid of being marginalized.

I'm not saying don't pay, just pay it slower! Give them some time to wonder if we are going to pay.
Just opt out of the weekly deduction from your paycheck and pay it yourself. Give them a quarter with NO or limited tax dollers coming in and they will start to see things our way!
