‘Go Watch This Video. It’s Enlightening, It’s Enraging.’: Gov Christie Raves Over O’Keefe ‘Teachers Gone Wild’
by Andrew BreitbartWell, the left and the mainstream media came to bury James O’Keefe. And I guess they failed. His latest Project Veritas ‘Teachers Gone Wild’ — New Jersey teachers union members exposing their institutional arrogance and lack of seriousness and accountability — is now a huge story in New Jersey politics, according to straight-talking Governor Chris Christie’s own mouth.
| Gov. Chris Christie comments on ‘teachers unions gone wild’ |
This is what I’ve been talking about. This is another exhibit as to what I’ve been talking about. The arrogance, the greed, the self-interest, the lack of introspection, the lack of standards.
And it hurts the great teachers just as much as it hurts the kids.
I think that this video makes the distinction better than I ever could. This is their leadership conference where they’re in a hotel, having this leadership conference, singing songs together about kicking the governor in his tool box. I wonder what they mean by that? But I can tell you I sense it would hurt.
They talk about the things.. I’m not even going to say it because we have children in this audience but the things that they would have to do in order to lose tenure. And how exciting the moment is after three years when they get tenure and realize ‘we can’t get fired for anything’.
This is the stuff they are saying on the video when they don’t believe they are being videotaped.
They have a teacher, leadership of the union, playing arcade games at this leadership conference and laughing and saying “isn’t this great? I get to play arcade games on your dime. “
I don’t care, candidly, that they chant and sing about me in a not very nice way. I’m the Governor of New Jersey, there are gonna be people who say bad things about me every day. That’s fine, I don’t care, I really don’t. This video is not about the things they say about me, this video is about the things they say about themselves. About themselves. And if you need an example of what I’ve been talking about for the last nine months about how the teachers’ union leadership is out of touch with the people and out of control, go watch this video. It’s enlightening, it’s enraging.
Here is the video, from Project Veritas, that Gov. Christie raved about:

Amazing~
Tip of the iceberg my friends…
And Gov. Christie is an excellent example of the kind of character needed in a politician. Moxy indeed!
I see some people that need detention.
Tenure everywhere needs to be done away with. Tenure breeds arrogance and protects incompetence.
No wonder the kids are out of control, and teachers keep getting caught having romances with students, these people don't think or act like adults.
This video is un-effing believable! Thank you James. You're doing what the MSM refuses to do and that's their jobs when it comes to investigating their own liberal cronies.
Tenure is contrary to a healthy free market. Progressive crap – period.
An October surprise!
This guy is great….no non sense The teachers unions are the problem with our education system…period
Public unions will bring down the US before Al Qiada.
The ponzi scheme that is Unions needs to be abolished. Completely abolished.
Spot on, dude!
If it is close, they can cheat.
We need to make sure it isn't close.
Unions are as useless and corrupt as ever….
It really is sad, when teachers only care about money, that's why we have children pushed through school who graduate and can hardly read a book,or do simple mathematics.
November 2nd 2010 – a great start.
Christie / Palin – 2012 taking back our country…
No more unions for public employees.
NPR with no more government funding.
ABOLISH THE UNIONS NOW!
not so fast, there, friend…
Cheating most definitely WILL help them in some races. They are already cheating like hell in Nevada with 'pre-printed' votes for guess who- Harry Reid- and some evidence of 'smudges' on ballots for Charlie Crist in Florida.
You must understand that stealing elections is what they do. Period. It's why they always accuse the GOP of it.
That's called 'projection'. The Democratic Left consistently accuses others of what they routinely practice. Our guess? The cheating will save them Barney Frank's seat, Barbara Boxer's and perhaps even the noxious Reid.
The turnout against them will have to be substantial. Poor Dino Rossi in WA already had a race stolen from him once. It just might happen to him again. The Progressives have NO intention of allowing a 'fair' election rob them of what they have waited one hundred years to achieve…
Awesome work!
Someone needs to kick over the lid that's covering the Head Start program, as long as the light of truth is still unfiltered by Net Neutrality. Maybe find out which homes the good food supplied to the program goes to– instead of to the kids' meals– would be a good place to start. . . It was happening 30 years ago. I'd bet it's still happening now.
Yes, but was he dressed as a teacher? or a pimp? Make sure to get that right.
Another perfect example of why we need to crush the teachers' union. They are no better than the socialist seiu brownshirts. Vote, good people, on 2 Nov to save our Republic and begin the crusade to regain control of our educational system. BTW, don't believe for a moment that drunk talk is anything but the truth. It is always the truth.
How do people like that stand themselves. They are so narcissistic and morally bankrupt, all they care about is themselves. AND THEY TEACH OUR CHILDREN ??? Would Not being in a union change these people. No. I don't believe it would. But, without a union, their incompetence and disgusting behavior would not be protected.
James O'Keefe, Chris Christie……you are Heroes.
I agree and I have a relative who is tenured…and the dept of indoctrination and the teacher's unions need to be dumped down the toilet!!
The Videos Are Edited Out of Context and/or Governor Christie's costume is misleading!
So, O'Keefe gets some teachers drunk and they say some off color *EDITED!!!* remarks… doesn't mean rethugs don't hate teachers and their kids!
Pay attention people, this is what we’re up against, fire’em all!
A message from team parasite!
Hot damn if I don't love having this man as my governor. Best thing that ever happened to this state.
Brings a whole new meaning to, "Let me show you my boobs!"
And here I was thinking that James had been thrown under the bus here just three weeks ago. Looks like it'll take a little more than a non-sex non-scandal to destroy him.
GO, JAMES, GO!
ASB1984- you need to mark even the most obvious sarcasm around here with a <sarc> or similar identfying hint as to your true intent.
C'mon folks! "…Governor Christie's costume is misleading!" didn't clue you in to this post being a joke? wake up, lighten up, or both.
Absofrickenlutely!!!
ALL Unions… not JUST teachers unions, ALL unions!
Unions are nothing short of organized crime, through coercion and ponzi schemes.
If the "chosen" are "saved", they will be caught. Remember, there isn't enough cheating available, not enough wiggle room, to avoid losing the committee chairs – or the Majority in the House.
Media has already admitted that enthusiasm his high on the non-democrat side. There can be no doubt that it is. No way would Americans buy as many voting this go around as last time. They are painted into a corner. Will they cheat? You know it. But it just isn't enough this time.
And soviets knew that 60 years ago.
Seems that when the pressure is on, the truth starts coming out.
I've been waiting for this since James' vid came out!
…but wait they care about the kids!
NOT.
When the corrupt are leading the corruptable…any wonder there is CORRUPTION?????
your mouth to God's ears…
They will steal what they can. Expect repeats of the Stewart Smalley/Norm Coleman debacle- like the Gregoire/Rossi affair- where 'just enough votes' materialize over a few days to allow the Progressive to win.
Only way this doesn't happen? If it is, truly, the tsunami it should be…
Moxie. Of all of the descriptions of Gov. Christie, I think that word sums it up best!
As for the teacher union's antics? No surprise at all.
Freaky teachers. Window into the mindset of the unions and the leftists.
I wonder how proud those teachers are now? If you want to be treated like a professional you have to act like one. Now watch and see how the union handles this, do they ask the teachers to do they honorable thing and resign or do they make feeble excuses.
I love what James is doing, but he needs to kill the background noise and get a plain spoken narrator.
Surly you jest! Honorable unions… Ha Ha Ha… oxymoron if I ever heard one! But plenty of regular morons (forgive the very basd pun!) ;o)
Let a liberal turd lie and it soon begins to stink!
They say those that can, do; those that can't, teach. And these meretricious miscreants are only didactic in how to defraud not enrich children, parents and tax payers… That they have our future, the children, in the ignoble claws is child abuse!
You know, a voucher system for education just might take the grins off the faces of most of these hyena's !!!
The only problem I have with this video comes in at around the 4:30 mark — when they're talking about disruptive behavior from kids. The whole idea of a padded room is supposed to make them seem like they're cruel and heartless people abusing our kids. Fine – what else are they supposed to do? An 8 year old kid hitting a teacher in the face with a textbook can do some damage to an adult – you can't spank the kids, you can't suspend the kids, you can't get the parents to do anything about it. My wife is a teacher in a small Illinois school district, and has had fellow teachers assaulted by kids – and nothing ever happens to the kids.
The rest of the video is definitely reprehensible, and I'm glad most of the teachers I know are absolutely nothing like that.
Makes me worried about voting machine techs being SEIU members. I hope BG or James find someone who is an honest American that is also an SEIU voting machine worker and outfit them with hidden cameras if you don' t think that these people will go to any links to keep their boat afloat we are going to lose.
The problem for the cheating Dimocrats is that they are not able to have enough of their supporters vote this cycle to hide the cheating…
And there are more than the usual 80+ year old observers and challengers watching polling now…
The real problem is the lackadaisical actions of the DOJ, (read: military absentee voting)…
Unfortunately, the challenge will have to be the courts….
After the ACORN video I was expecting something… i don't know, interesting… shocking.. outrageous…. this was pretty lame actually. I've been to all sorts of conferences in a couple different industries and I've seen far crazier stuff than this. Someone admitting that firing a tenured teacher is tough…. tell me something I didn't know. It was ok I guess.
Hell Yes! We need elected officials with the will to break the teachers unions! They will strike, and we will mabye lose a year(I mean have a year without public school) while we replace the union hacks with people who actualy want to teach. I call that cheaper than the status quo, and much better for the students – who will otherwise "Graduate" with an 8th grade education at best.
Some already have.
So – I recomend that everybody and his brother files a SEPERATE lawsuit, and refuses to combine them in any winnable, or at least hard to lose, case of vote tampering. Civil and Legal. Make it so damn expensive for those involved that they drain their war chests covering their crimes.
I am afraid that they cannot simply be abolished – they must be broken. That is why I like Christie – he has the will to do it.
Unfortunately for them, they'll get PAID detention.
ALL tenure needs to be abolished – public schools as well as colleges and universities. It is a corrupt and arrogant system, rewarding mediocrity. It is unfair to talented, hardworking teachers, it is unfair to our kids, and it is unfair to the taxpayers who fund the salaries of these teachers and administrators.
Saying that stuff in a pub after a few drinks is one thing–saying it in a session of a professional conference is quite another.
"They say those that can, do; those that can't, teach." The next time I hear that aphorism, I'm gonna spit nails. The slugs in the video are the ones who can't teach. There's no excuse for them, and I hope they get fired. The ones who CAN teach strive mightily every day, with both hands tied behind their backs and their brains taped shut. That they are effective at all is nothing short of amazing.
Unions aren't the only ones hamstringing good teachers. Federal education bureaucrats, school administrators, and parents share the blame.
To anyone else who thinks teaching is easy–go do it for a week. I bet you won't last until Wednesday.
BELIEVE IN LIES, BELIEVE IN THEM…….BELIEVE IN TRUTH, Listen to what they say."Candidly" (When they speak truthfully, when they think you are not listening)……Everyone has a desire to believe in a god/God (Something that has control over them)!! If it is a "HUman" which you place on that pedestal/behind that pulpit/podium (With the assistance of a "Teleprompter"), You can be assured SOMEONE IS TRYING TO GAIN POWER, THROUGH YOUR BELIEF IN THEM (Their well rehearsed words)!!! A fool will follow them and devour the bait they place on their hooks!!!!!
The unions are only as good or bad as the people in them. You could abolish the unions completely, and you'll still have most of the problems because these teachers and officials are individually ethically, morally corrupt. Any organization or activity they're involved in will be corrupt. They use deceit in contract negotiations, and fraud to influence elections, and openly approve of slandering people they disagree with. Honest people with integrity don't approve of, support or become involved in such organizations or do such things. Unions, educational systems, political parties only reflect the character of the people who form them.
Publicly these "professional educators" pay lip service to noble ideals, and they know how to posture altruistically before the public and parents who are interested in their child's education. But their actions speak louder. Government schools, unions, teachers, administrators are not a means to the end of educating America's children. That's all pretense. The reality is the children are a means to the ends of personal gratification of every kind, money, and political power for union officials, individual teachers and therapists, administrators, bureaucrats, politicians and all manner of self-interested predators.
We shouldn't wonder why the country seems to be going down the drain, or why so many wanna-be tyrants, moochers and thieves can repeatedly get elected, or why so many seemingly common, ordinary, working class Americans have no shame in openly committing despicable acts of every kind from voter fraud to public intimidation and violence, when for the last 30 years almost all parents have allowed corrupt educators like these to guide, counsel, instruct, train and "educate" their children 30 to 40 hours a week for 13 years.
Something like 85% of parents whose children are in public schools are aware that there are serious problems with the quality of education, values and moral environment of government schools. An even higher percentage believe that their child's school is the amazing, rare exception. What the hell is with that? Talk about self delusion and denial!
Please, don't let these people have your children.
If I asked every single person working at our local state college what the present California debt, was I doubt if even a dozen of them would correctly guess $20 billion dollars. All these public employees do is whine they are underpaid, overworked and under-appreciated.
Never once have I heard them ever thank the taxpayers who have supported them in their cushy jobs letting them make a living teaching French literature …like there is a real going market for those skills. Or how about Ethnic studies, Stage hand technician or Beginning Flute — all getting over $100K for a nine month year, tenured and retirement benefits even George Soros would envy because not a single cent of them are at risk.
Voters in California came close to outlawing tenure when Arnold Schwarzenegger came to power, but the unions finally busted him and he never tried again. Voters, you let this happen. You have to stop voting for union backed candidates who cement in this piggy trough so your grandchildren will still be paying for these people's cruises through the Panama Canal every year while they keeps spending your public dime and leaving nothing left over for present services.
Demand to know what anyone running for office that controls public pensions what they are going to do about pension reform. Meanwhile ask at your next PTA meeting or parent teacher night what that teacher is going to do about the $20 billion state deficit since they are public employees who are causing this public debt to grow exponentially every year.
Ask them and see how they react. (1) ignorant there is any public debt; (2) blame the greed of Wall Street; (3) get huffy and take it out on your kid; (4) blame administrator salaries but not their own.
I have learned teachers care more about job security than they do salary. They know they could never get a job anywhere else with their limited skills and education. Take away job security and increase salaries is a good place to start flusing out those who can't cut it and don't deserve it.
Michelle Rhee had it right. The unions took her down and Christie continued his exceptional brilliance trying to recruit her for New Jersey. We need 49 more Michelle Rhees and Gov Christies. Or 57 more if you live in Obama's United State of America.
And of course, you have all now seen "Waiting for Superman", right? Get thee to a theater ASAP.
The public employee unions use their dues paid for by the taxpayers to buy legislators to find new ways to screw the taxpayers to get more money for the unions who use it to buy more legislators until they have a total lock on the entire system. Welcome to California.
AMEN SunshineConnie!
Right on Ma'am!
Yes, you have a good man in place. My state is about to dump its Democrat, but, unfortunately, the new governor will be a RINO. We had a real conservative in the primaries, but the Dems did crossover voting and now we are stuck.
I'm so sick of the sanctimonious clowns that call themselves teachers today. 99% of them are useless when it comes to educating children. Between the dumbed-down curriculum and the hidden socialist/deviant lesson plans
it's really a shame more parents economically can't have mom stay home and home school the kids. Let's face it, a teaching degree can almost come free in a box of Cracker Jacks, and there may be no more easy job for the truly lazy than today's, "we'll teach them just enough to collect welfare" teachers.
As an Ex-Jerseyan, I want you current residents to know, I'm jealous. Moved out of the state in 1983 and can't remember a more competent governor than who you have now. Listen to this guy speak, watch his actions. He's real. Notice no teleprompter. Notice no "Uhhh…uhhhh…..uhhhh…" and he's not even the freaking POTUS. You guys up there are going to become great (once again) under his leadership and I hope people "flock" back to the beautiful state again once he makes it more affordable and the quality of life improves. I might even be persuaded to leave my newly adopted state of Georgia if I knew someone like him would be in charge for a length of time.
Yes, that will make ALL the difference in the world with respect to what is on the video. s/
AMAZING! This is an example of what's wrong with America today. Yet another example of how unions are fiscally and morally bankrupty our country! Sad commentary on what LOOK FOR THE UNION LABEL now stands for!
I wonder, will they still get their teachers salaries when they are in prison? Really wish he was MY Governor.
Hopefully, he will be the Governor of this country, if he decides to run in 2012. I don't normally fall into adoration with any politician….but Governor Christie is a straight talking, no non-sense type of man and is exactly what this country needs.
I agree about the good teachers being hamstrung by bureaucrats and the vary unions that supposedly protects them… I just saw a study that said if if were possible to fire bad, incompetent teachers – just the bottom 5% – the worst of the worst now protected by the unions by tenure and almost impossible to fire – that this simple step would raise test scores to those of Finland, one of the tops in the world!
I think teaching is a gift, not just a 'job'. It's a true profession. If it were treated as such, there would be no need to have a union. which just allows entry to people who simply have a certificate but not the gift and unique God given skill set it takes to be a great teacher…
Return the Dept of Education to the States & the local School Boards where it RIGHTFULLY Belongs. We The People can fix anything.
Every time Gov. Christie speaks the more I fall politically in love! Keep up the amazing work Gov. Christie!
Save the Republic, eat a Progressive!
The Union is calling the video "doctored". Just like Acorn refused to acknowledge anything their employees said.
The Union cannot just fire these teachers and principals with the ability to F– with kids, however. They will have to stick to their guns even if they go down with the ship.
Maybe what we need is to re-think why we allow a Union to negotiate for teachers who may not want to be in the union. Maybe we should make a rule that unions are fine, but the government cannot force non-union members to pay dues or give exclusive contracts to unions. The government has no right making deals with unions that give the politicians money in exchange. That's bribery and it is wrong.
Heh… Exactly!
I don't even live in New Jersey, but watching that video made me furious. New Jersey, you're lucky to have Governor Christie!
Aand, your message is from team "Knee Jerk."
If it's any consolation, <*little kid whiny voice on*> "My points dropped to '74p'!" <*little whiny kid voice off*>.
Yes, you have a great governor. When will NJ share him with the rest of the country? He needs to run for President.
Teachers are human and make mistakes like anyone else. How many people now making comments on this site haven't used poor judgment both on and off the job? I was a high school principal for eighteen years and in this time I saw time and again where teachers were their own worst enemies. This seems to be the case again..
If it was one person making a comment on the video tape it could be dismissed as poor judgement, but this is just abuse of public trust and money. These unions have way to much power and to little accountability.
Christie must have really won the governors seat by at least 25pts with all this crap going on.Disgusting!
Wow, I don't know how things are on the East coast. Why does the East always assume that whatever happens in the East is supposedly typical of the rest of the country. In Colorado we haven't had "tenure" since the '80s. Even when we had "tenure" we could still be fired for a myriad of things. Considering how teachers are the ones in the trenches "tenure" existed to protect them from one angry parent who protested their student learning about the Holocaust because it was "a hoax." Teachers in Colorado used to have probationary status. For three years they could get fired for ANY reason, looking at a school board member funny, protesting a corrupt super. Now Colorado in its wisdom has removed any protection. In my district we had a super who never showed up to work (was paid $500 a day) and solicited students from his Facebook. Any teacher who protested this was fired. So before you bash "tenure" ask yourself why teachers need this kind of protection from an ignorant legislature, crackpot parents and a sensation seeking media in the first place? Teachers have less rights than students, parents or administrators.
Wow, wish life was that simple. These guys are crazy- or maybe that's just an East coast Jersy thing, but ask yourself why teachers need this kind of protection from an ignorant legislature, crackpot parents and a sensation seeking media in the first place? Teachers have less rights than students, parents or administrators. We don't have a union like that in my state. Maybe it's just a Jersey thing. After all the prostitution that goes on in the show "Jersey Shore' seems a lot like this clip. My state has a grand and bloody history of employers abusing workers. Notice how blaming the economy is an awesome way for employers to control people now? In my district all teachers salaries have been frozen for four years, but EVERY secretary who covered our super's butt got a fifteen thousand dollar raise. Deal with that and then explain to me why unions are evil again?
Spot on! The Democrats and whole Progressive movement is one anthropological study in projection. That is why they were screaming about the ( non-existent) foreign $ to Chamber of Commerce. Not to be too dramatic, but this is shaping up to be an epic battle between good and evil.
You can edit "You have to f**k someone in the hall way" till you turn blue in the face, and it still isn't ever an acceptable thing to brag about.
Wait a minute, actsnow ~~ if we eliminate "…..children pushed through school who graduate and can hardly read a book or do simple mathematics," from where would the next crop of teachers' union leaders come???
our society is collapsing around us,these idiots are cutting off their own noses in spite of their face.
Completely Epic!! James O'keefe is back and right on time with the Nov.election. It's an awesome sight when a citizen reporter out classes the MSM in every way.
Rome was not destroyed from outside force…rather, Rome was destroyed from the inside. I see America going down the same path….
In that crowd, a pimp costume probably would have blended in well.
Is there really any difference here?
Calling a child the "N" word is simply poor judgment? It's a laughable thing to these idiots? Thank God you were never the principal at my kids school.
How can they look themselves in the mirror everyday. Such shameful behavior and they laughing about it. Chris Christie is the best thing to happen to the state of New Jersey and the worse nightmare for the teachers union there. As Governor Christie states in his speech, this hurts the good teachers and the children of New Jersey. Fight them all the way Gov. Christie, this is straight up corruption and disregard for the children, parents and the schools of New Jersey.
As a public educator, I was disappointed, embarrassed, and appalled by the behavior in the video. Unfortunately I was not surprised – especially by the guy getting his Administration Certificate. I have very little respect for the vast majority of public education administrators. Lots and lots of them used to be union reps. Just saying.
That said, I would very much like to see the entire video footage (or transcripts). Toward the end, a woman asks about out-of-control children and mentions a padded room. She didn't seem to be exhibiting the same attitude as the rest of the teachers in the video. Yes, the union is horrible and needs to go. I don't even see how non-union people can debate that anymore – the union IS a LARGE part of the problem. But I would like to know about this "padded room." Are children behaving so poorly that they are putting themselves in danger and need padded walls? Or are the teachers so bad that the kids are running wild? Or is it a combination of the two? Or is it something else entirely?
Wow, just the bottom 5%? Amazing! Well, it does make a heck of a lot of sense because so many resources are used toward minimizing the damage the lousy teachers cause. The crappy teachers don't get fired–they get reassigned to the worst schools instead, which just makes a bad problem worse. The last thing at-risk kids need is a crappy teacher! The Denver Public Schools got some serious bad publicity last year for that practice. But their hands are tied by the unions, so the crappy teachers get recycled and recycled. Ugh.
Damn it – where do we find 585 more guys like this one to put in high office?
That reminds me…one of the facilities I run is the wastewater plant of an elementary school. What I want to know is when we pulled a pump yesterday…why in the H… was it clogged with condoms??"?!!!!!
